Thank God we can wear smart shorts! I wore long trousers and shoes a few times last year in the Tequila and it was unbearably hot and uncomfortable for a pasty white person from the middle of England!

Well it is good then that no one is telling anyone else what to do and as you so eloquently put it Andrew, being a jerk :) Everyone just sharing an opinion on the new sign and what they like to wear.

I'm with Donald and others .
Let's face it how long realistically is dinner 2hrs max . Is it really that much to ask to look almost as good as your lady for two hrs before changing into your Patyo's party nearly naked outfit ? :lotsofmichaelfs::flagcanada:

I guess I'm odd as I look as good as my lady in shorts, must be my shapely legs I guess. The idea that she is somehow offended by my bare legs is kinda odd.

It's funny, if a lady was in the sexy pool and uncomfortable going topless and people were pressuring her to take it off we'd be offended but all this passive aggressive "if you don't wear pants you're not trying or disrespecting your lady" talk is perfectly fine. Nowt as strange as folk.

Now granted I'm a simple girl from the country but I don't see how linen or khaki pants are any more or less dressy than linen or khaki shorts.

I am however, very happy our men have the choice as to how much leg they wish to show lol

My best advice to all the fellas as to shorts vs. pants - just ask your wife/partner what she wants you to wear. :)

Devils advocate, so if a guy were to wear a kilt instead of shorts to dinner that's ok?

Hell I have seen multiply wedding pictures of the groom and groomsmen in dress shorts for the ceremony.

Does this make them simple or disrespectful people?

Don't get me wrong I also agree if the women can take t time to "doll" themselves up we can at least try and do the same. However what's dolled up to me might not be to someone else. Same goes for a lot of things in life. This is the reason we are not all the same.

What happened to "No one knows you and no one gives a shit"

This seems to have gotten way off base. Wearing pants to dinner was something our forefathers used to do as a sign of respect and importance to mark the occasion, similar to not wearing a hat while eating dinner or dressing up for church...nothing more or less than that. I see men slob it out by wearing gym pants and hats to dinner, speaking with their mouths full, etc... all the time nowadays. It shows poor class, but unfortunately manners seem to be dying a fast death anyhow. Do whatever you feel like doing but don't worry about respecting others, worry about disrespecting yourself.

    Well Said!

This thread is about a dress code for the restaurants. It is not about personal choice or opinions.
The resort is actually dictating what you wear, if you want to eat in there.

Far too many have stated on CCC that sloppy, underdressed attire for men is acceptable.
    It really isn't.
CCC forums don't make the rules at TTR.

The dress code has always been in effect and still is.
If someone got away with eating in the resto in less than dress code, than considr that lucky or an exception.
For as many times as I have witnessed someone allowed in improperly dresssed, I have seen triple the number barred from entering.

You are welcome to eat at the buffet anytime in whatever clothes you want.
But you are disrespecting the establishment, fellow dinners, the staff and the Matre'D by forcing him to decide whether to bar you from eating I his restaurant.
    The Rules are the rules.
Any defiance is just an excuse.

I will also say I was raised to always show respect for the chef/cook, when breaking bread.
If I showed up under dressed or sloppy for a meal at my mother's table I would never have eaten.
Like wise if invited to someone's home for a formal meal.... I wouldn't show up dressed like I was out running errands or walking the dog.

Each to their own as they say.....but
I always try to adhere to the 'Rules of the House'

I don't think that's what it says at all! The way I read it is that "sports shorts" aren't permitted. To me that means no basketball shorts, gym shorts, soccer shorts or the like!

I could be wrong........but that's my take on this!
