I know this doesn't apply to everyone but for the people looking to book airfare separately here is a bit of advise. Most people travel for one week when they go on vacation therefore the flights they use would be from Sat-Sat, Wed-Wed, etc. Before you book the flight try moving your departure or return date one day earlier or later. For example we normally travel Wed-Wed. When I checked flights from Tuesday-Wed I found each RT ticket to be about $75 cheaper. I used that savings to book an additional night at TTR. Obviously this isn't always going to be the case but definitely worth checking. Titties & Beer Scott
our direct flight down was cheap and early, get to Cancun by 10:30 am:aktion033:....the way back was expensive and left at 7:30am....waste of a day, so we took a connector and are staying overnight in Charlotte, NC but we don't have to leave TTR till noon Sunday.
I agree Donald, in fact most of the time they are. However having stops along the way cuts into my drinking time at the sexy pool :wink3:
Good point DannKathy...Its not only the cost but the times of your flights. You can actually gain or lose a day at the resort based on arrival & departure times
My favorite one is the fact I can drive to Austin and get on a plane that flies to DFW and get on the same exact flight but it's $125 cheaper.
I saved $50 flying from Sarasota to Cleveland instead of Tampa to Cleveland, and the stupid plane STOPPED in Tampa, a 10 minute flight or something goofy like that. Go figure airlines and logic sometimes don't go together too well.
We used to go on Wed - Wed but now I find great flights on Fri-Fri. Now I purchase them on a Tues or Wed when the prices drop. We always get a direct flight as I couldn't get hubby to do a connection but we find the connections only save us about $100.00 but then we are traveling the entire day. Cheers, Chris & Tracy
