First time I took USA, I asked the driver to wait while I got some drinks at the airport outdoor bar. He told me not to do that and that he would stop at the minimart of the gas station right outside the airport where I could get a 12 pack cheaper than 2 beers at the bar. I ask them to stop there every time.

That is a great tip about the beer, we will be doing that because last year in Jamaica it cost us $36 for beer and bartender tip waiting for the bus to leave Montego bay. ( we were thirsty and ready to party ) :)

OK.... I feel like I might be on the wrong side of a bad joke here...

We'll be first timers mid October and when booking the trip through the resort website I opted for the optional Transfer through Aventour for an added $95.

Not knowing what it included and the potential hassle of group shuttles, I threw caution to the wind and went for it. After reading more on here it seems like I got ripped off. Anyone have any experience with this option?

For what it's worth, I got almost immediate confirmation with arrival and departure flight information and it seems like a decent option aside from the cost...

    Thanks for the advice!

Correct - for transfers they have always accepted Canadian $$ at par (FYI - this is not a new policy, the owner of USA Transfers is a Canadian that lives in Cancun - one of the nice guys  )

Can't say anything negative about the transfer you got have never ever used them. I've used USA Transfers every time well except for the first few times it was just to the resort and the milk run transportation that was included into the package on the way back. I mean everyone wants to maximize their time at the resort right and who cares how long it takes to get back to the airport for the flight home as long as you get there for the flight home. You may still have time to cancel and rebook with USA Transfers and save some money. Either way the trip should be no longer than 25 minutes unless you ask for a stop. The ones included in the tour packages can take way longer as TTR is the last stop.
