When I tell my team I am going on vacation they usually ask "Are you going to boob island again?" lol. I figure if anyone in my life is offended by where I go I really don't need them in my life.

At 52 you develop a lot less tolerance for that kind of BS I guess lol

My 16 year old daughter is hoping that we are going somewhere topless or nude...because as she said "you need lots of room in your suitcase for all the gifts you are bringing back for us" bahaha! I have "played" along...not sure if they really realize where we are going. I think they don't care as long as they get a break from being subjected to mom and dad "making out" all the time.

I agree - with technology now -I give the hotel number but they always facetime us and even before facetime we would call home every night. ...made for an expensive cellphone bill, even with international.

Although my parents know where we will stay. We just communicate on our regular cell phones (Verizon wireless plan). a call is like $1 a min so explain that before you go to the parents when I call I it will be just a quick check in. we do a lot of texting its like 5cents to receive and 25 cents to send so not bad at all. you can leave your phone on in the safe all day and then just check for new texts when you come back to your room. ***Make sure you turn off your cellular data if you don't buy a international plan as that could go bad quick, with all your apps looking for new status updates every 30 seconds. We never by the international calling plans or the Wifi at the resort. I enjoy the disconnect from email and Facebook and daily drama that is real life for the week. Plus I don't like to advertise to the world that my house is sitting empty while I'm gone. For us the Facebook pictures can wait till we return.

Couldn't agree more we've always done that, told everyone to expect exactly three texts as I said above. Included is the instructions to call their grandparents and let them know we've arrived safely, midweek a tell them we're still alive barely hanging on from all the fun, lastly we're off to the airport we'll call when we get in. Being unplugged from the daily grind allows you to relax and makes for a more enjoyable week and for us two allows some much needed ALONE TIME

Not sure about the mums the word for our resort and a phone number; however, we have Verizon. I call them and change our plan to the more everything Mexico / Canada plan the day before we leave and the day we return. It costs peanuts and works great. One thing that we do is check in every morning with our family, work, etc., to make sure all is good with the ones that are taking care of ours while were on vacation. We also choose to talk rather than text as it too is cheaper, plus it is appreciated. Lastly, we let our family, work, etc., that if there is something urgent, type 911 in the text. We can preview that without actually opening the message. Then call right away. Just a thought, it works great for Bob & I. hope this helps :)
