Sounds like a good plan though. Gets thumbs up from me if they are planning to improve in this way. I'm assuming this will have an effect on pricing though. Already getting more expensive. I wonder how they plan to manage dinner bookings with an increase in resort guests? I always think it's pretty strange that you can't get reservations, yet the bookable restaurants are always 50% empty. How does that work?
If that is going to happen I think it would definitely take longer then a year ! Am holding off from booking for May don't want to go to a building site
JUst pay the extra for a Cancellable flight ,,, hotel bookings are more easiably refundable up to 30 days prior
We book as a package I'll have to ask how it will work I wouldn't stay in any other hotel in Cancun I would rather go somewhere else
Fortunately we're booked for February so its before the reno's start. But our second trip of the year which will be in August looks like we'll do Desire instead. Not worth taking a chance on getting there and having the pool closed and other amenities due to the construction.
You people take this way to seriously! You can't believe anything on the internet don't you know? Ladyntramp is the only one who caught it! I've posted we aren't going till January but ya'll just ate it up. Most people don't know jack shit! Steve would be the go to guy on this I imagine. I enjoyed TTR more than any other resort I've ever been too. And we travel A LOT. TTR is the most laid back and inviting resort in the Caribbean. Desire and Hedo are both cliquish, Punta Cana hasn't reached the level of Cancun yet. Give it a few more years. No where offers the atmosphere of TTR. Why would anyone want to risk losing that with a remodel. The air works as good as it can for 80% humidity. The rooms are as nice as they need to be. Who are we? Were a bunch of rejects from society that like to get naked, drunk and watch other people do funny shit to our wives! I hope they never remodel this place! I remember the Paladium in NYC. When they remodeled it sucked ASS afterwords and was never the same. Lets ALL hope they never change because if they do, will ALL be looking for a new place to get NAKED, DRUNK and watch people do funny shit to our wives!
Holding back our booking too now, bit of a downer as we were close to booking but as you say , we don't want to spend all that money going to a building site. I wish TTR would just tell us the true facts so we can sort out our holidays. Things Take a little more organising when we are doing 2 weeks from the UK. Imagine how we would feel if Thomas Cook bumped us to a RIU full of kids and bingo :ranting1: Leeroy and Sarah xx
OK just to CONFIRM what Boo&LaROy just said: THEY ARE PUNKING YOU. This was completely made up. As stated before, I am really not going to believe anyone unless it is Steve (maybe a very few very very seasoned vets). Whenever Steve has posted about what he has been told in business meetings with the resort, he always still states it is not set in stone. A combination of things are going to need to happen before I would not book a time (official press release, word from Steve, actual construction/demo, the stopping of bookings).
Of course our first trip is planned in April. Now I am nervous to keep my plans. Glad we paid cancelation insurance. We are new so we dont know whats rumors ans whats true.
I had to laugh when he said so many other resorts were copying TTR. I was thinking where the hell are they? Way to rattle some cages Boo&LaRoy.
