We are hoping to spend a week at Temptation this December. We are considering spending a day at Desire. How does this work?

How much would a day pass for 2 people cost? Where would we book it, online, or thru Temptation staff? Is there a shuttle or do we have to hail a cab? How far away is Desire from Temptation and how much would cab fare cost?

Is this an organized thing or would we have to schedule everything ourselves? Until how long can/should we stay at Desire? Is there a best day of the week to go?

Oh, and there are two Desires, right? Any opinions on which one to pick (which is closer, etc) would be appreciated.

There are no such things, you must book a night.

We went this past June and there was a couple who had done it. That's how I got the idea. I hope it exists.

How good are you at selling? We did it in May. We talked to someone at concierge about it. We explained that we liked Temptation but we're looking for something more upscale. We had friends staying at Desire and we wanted to see what the resort was all about. After a little negotiating we ended up being able to go. We went to Pearl. I honestly don't remember the cost but it wasn't terrible. The agreement was we had to sit through the timeshare pitch in the morning. We got there first thing and we're done by 10. They told us we were allowed to stay until 6 pm. We had 8 hours to hang out with friends and see the resort. We did have to cover our taxi ride and it was $100 total.

When you talk to concierge they are going to deter you. Just have to really sell it. We spoke to someone that was at TTR but actually worked for Desire and she got us in. I don't remember her name though.

Give it a shot. Worst that can happen is they say no.

If TTR is full, you can volunteer to be bumped to Desire for free for 1 or 2 nights. Most likely on the weekends. Tell front desk that you are willing if there is a need from overbooking

Why would you have to push for it? I mean, why would they discourage you? If you're willing to pay the $, what would be the problem? Plus, since I'd already be paying for the week at Temptation, I'd also be paying for a day at Desire when that day at Temptation is already paid for. It's a win-win for them, no?

The thing about the timeshare presentation, when I go in December, I'll probably be going on a referral week, so I already have a presentation to sit through.

Thanks, but I'm hoping I don't have to stay overnight. Seems too much of a hassle to pack up clothes, etc just for a night or two. That's why I was hoping for info on a day pass.

Yeah, this is a huge pet peeve of mine with Original Resorts. You are right on all points above. However, the reality is Original Resorts is gouging its customers when it comes to visiting their other resorts while staying at one. Here are the rules for each situation as I understand them (note everything is negotiable if you are persistent as pointed out above)...

Staying at Temptation and you want to visit Desire Pearl or Desire RM
Day passes or night passes are not available. Several years back we tried very hard to negotiate in advance, on site, with management, you name it. We had heard of others being able to convince someone to allow them to visit if they did the timeshare presentation but they wouldn't even do that for us. We were never offered that opportunity or offered the opportunity to be bumped despite going to TTR during many busy times including Feb and May.

Staying at Desire and you want someone from Temptation to visit you
There used to be a policy where you could have friends visit you while you were staying at Desire for a fee. Although this isn't still a policy, we found if you ask nicely they will allow it. We had friends from TTR visit us at Desire Pearl last october. Check out our trip report, post #45 for the details on the fee we negotiated.

In talking with Desire Pearl and RM management on above I was told that it takes much more $ to run Desire than TTR and they wanted to keep the privacy for their guests that Desire has so they don't allow day visits typically.

Staying at Desire and you want to visit Temptation
Now this is the most ridiculous part of all. They actually want to charge you to visit Ttr for a day! Of course this is right after them admitting it takes way more money to run the Desire properties. You would think they would want as many people as possible to leave Desire for a day. Yet instead they try to charge you. They originally tried $240 to visit for day and night, then lowered to $80 and eventually to nothing but only after much negotiation and heated discussion :) See post 47 of our May 2014 trip report...

Staying at Desire and you want to visit the other Desire
Amazingly they want to charge you $150 to visit. Or you can do the timeshare presentation and have the fee waived. Another ridiculous policy that is simply gouging. Through much negotiation we were able to get this waived once but in hind site the hassle wasn't worth it.

Hope that helps. Regarding which to visit and when. The weekends are always more happening then early week days from our experience. Pearl is of a higher quality but RM has more activity. So if I was just visiting for a day then I would go on the weekend or Friday, which is Foam party day at RM.
