My service is AT&T and when we are there we usually all home to check on the kids and the service is great. I also have an international plan that overs those calls through AT&T.
Yes. If you add an international plan, you can use it for whatever you'd like. Your phone will not be on the ATT network, but it will work with a partner network. It has worked for us the last two trips to Mexico. You can add it through the ATT app.
If you have a phone you bought off ebay or craigslist I wouldn't suggest taking it may be on a foreign country black list and will show up as blacklisted and Service will be terminated here in the United States and there Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
That's weird because I have ATT and I had to sign up for their International Passport package. For a $30 fee, ATT gave me 120 MB (which is like, nothing), voice calls at $1/minute and unlimited text messaging. This was as recently as June 2015, when I was last in Cancun.
Looking to add this international package to our plan for next week .. curious to know if you used it and were you able to send and receive texts? We aren't interested in the "data" just texts ....
They used to have it broken out but switched to the passport package mentioned above. For us we wanted all 3 so the package works well. For you I could see how you would want it still separate but as separated it was something like 50 messages for $10. So unlimited for $30 isn't really any worse.
