this will be my first time to cancun or TTR...

I've been watching the weather forecasts on several sites and see different forecasts.

Weather.com says there is likely to be thunderstorms much of the day on Friday and on Saturday

Accuweather says it will be sunny or partly cloudy

I grew up in Florida and went to college there - I know in the fall in florida thunderstorms are likely to blow in each afternoon and then clear out pretty quickly

For the Labor Day regulars - is that what I should expect?

I can't speak for Labor Day, but right before we went this past June, we almost canceled our trip due to the forecast! The forecast had showed 80%-85% chance of rain for 5 out of the 6 days of our stay. There was even a hurricane on the Cabos side. (I know, Cabos is totally opposite side from Temptation, it's just that there was a lot of bad-weather talk going around at the time. Nerve-wracking!) This was our thread: http://www.cancuncare.com/forum/temptation-resort-cancun/32946-not-liking-forecast.html

I am so glad we didn't cancel! It didn't rain during our entire trip, except for a 5-minute light drizzle one day. We had a great time, enhanced by great weather.

I hope the same for your trip as well.

From experience we have found that quite often there is a possibility of thunderstorms in the forecast each day. That seems like a fairly common ....but don't fret......if they happen they usually pass through very quickly! No worries!

When we went for the first time this past May, there was thunderstorms every night and in the afternoons. My fiancé was calling me Zeus, we had a blast. Oh wait, you're literally talking about actual storms huh? Ok nevermind... Lol even if it rains, how would that possibly stop the party? I was planning on being wet all day in the pool and it gets so hot at night that I wod welcome a party in the rain at Paty O's. Being that you're from FL you know there are always passing sun showers. I noticed the weather predictions as well. Don't worry, we will adapt and just have Wet and Wild Theme Parties!! Actually...... That's a pretty good idea I just got! LOL Wet & Wild Theme Party! Haaaa! I'm running with it! Lol

The only weather you should worry about when visiting Cancun are hurricanes. There will not be a hurricane in Cancun around Labor Day. Stop looking at the weather forecasts, they ALWAYS say it will be cloudy and raining. It never happens, the weather should be gorgeous for your entire trip.

I would have to agree, and would defiantly trust this guy. I heard he has been to Cancun like once or twice. ;)

Seriously though I don't understand why they put that in the forecast all the time. Is the area they take into account for Cancun weather so big that it really doesn't apply to the beach zones and really it is more inland? They should come up with another more specialized territory and try to give more accurate predictions. It really can be confusing and nerve-racking for people don't have any past experience.

    To clarify: (or not)

"If the forecaster is only 50% sure that precipitation will occur, and expects that, if it does occur, it will produce measurable rain over about 80 percent of the area, the PoP (chance of rain) is 40%. ( PoP = .5 x .8 which equals .4 or 40%. )"

We were down in October the one year and there was a hurricane forecasted to come across while we were there, it got downgraded to a tropical storm the staff were fantastic kept us calm and the party rocking so the only hurricane that mattered was the one in the glass in front of me LOL.
