I'm going in a few weeks and I am a big beach person and heard all the negatively regard the beach at TTR. It's there somewhere we could go that had a nice beach that we can hang out at fit part of a day
If I recall correctly, most (if not all) of the beach areas in Cancun are public - except for use of property-owned chairs and such. In any case, if you want a nice beach at which to hang out, anything along the back of the "7" will take care of you.
my 2 cents If you look at a map of the resort area TTR is on the coast that points more to the North this entire coast is more like waves at a small lake. In order to get to the big ocean waves you need to turn the corner and be on the beach that faces more SE. And yes most if not all beach's are public excluding the "chair" areas. you may need a bus or taxi ride as it would be quite a hike from TTR.
We have been 4 times and have never once felt a Desire to go to the beach there, or anywhere else in Cancun. Once you see the party at the Sexy Pool, you will forget all about the beach.
If you do want the type of beach you see in photos of Cancun you can head to downtown and in behind Coco Bongos is Mandala Beach. A beautiful stretch of public beach with rolling waves and the azure blue waters the area is known for. The beach at TTR is fine..its not like over at the Hotel Zone beach but it works. Beats the brown grass and leafless tree view at home we have come fall time. If you want waves and a larger beach all of the beaches in Cancun are open to the public. Also if you want a really amazing beach go over to Isla and go to North Beach, ranked top 5 in the Carribean
Leave the resort,s ,,, toppless pool,,, pay for a bus or cab,,then pay for a chair or table at nicer beach, then pay for drinks,, then ,, clean off my towel after that the freaken kid walked all over it with sandy feet ,,,, then listen to said kid screaming at his little brother,, mommy comes over with her top on and starts yelling at kid,, you pack up your stuff,, grab and pay for a cab,, go back to the kid-less, topless, free booze resort, DJ at the pool & with the below average beach,, and wonder why you ever left the freaken place. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
