The Mexican peso weakened to 16.47 to the USD today, at 1:13 PM, Mexico City time, triggering a 200,000,000 USD peso purchasing action by the Central Bank to stave off the rout. Bloomberg says the central bank has been spending about 52 million USD a day recently, buying pesos in an effort to keep the value from falling too fast for the economy to adjust. Relatively good times in the U.S. can and do translate into falling currency values in many countries, including our nice neighbor to the north. Fortunately for those who like to vacation here, the weaker peso is helping keep this an attractive destination for them, too.
Unfortunately when shopping for resorts , they are all priced in USD for us , then we have to pay 1.31 x to convert cdn
Thanks, Donald. We love going out to Isla, and stay overnight there about ten times a year, on average. It's a great change of scenery for those of us who live in Cancun, Centro.
