I was looking into our options for communicating and having a little internet access. I think I have finally decided we will go with our Verizon International Plan. It's $25 and can cancel after you get back. It includes: 500 minutes (5¢ overage) 500 sent messages (5¢ overage) Unlimited incoming message 1GB data and Unlimited access to select International Wi-Fi hot-spots with Verizon Wi-Fi Connect when you add a International data plan to a line on your account Plenty enough for us to make sure our kids are alive and plenty enough to communicate in case of emergencies. The 1GB should be plenty since most days we will probably not even remember we have a phone. Anyone have better suggestions on what has worked well in the past? Seems hard to beat this deal. Shaun
Thanks Shaun I have been thinking about this for a while, this sounds like a great plan and will have to look into it at Verizon. T
We always change to the Verizon Mexico/Canada plan right before we leave then cancel it when we get back. Works great for us as we only turn the phone on once a day to check for messages then it goes right back into the safe til the next day
We usually just shut off the cellular data and go with it. I think its like $1 a minute to call home so we make one call and my parents know it needs to be quick and the kids are the priority. then we usually send a few texts a day I would guess we are in for $10 to $15 extra charges so kinda a horse a piece for $10-15 more you can have the freedom to not worry about it. but you can save 10-15 and make your self disconnect and let go. I kinda like NOT having the option to see emails or answer every call. For us the disconnect is part of what we love about going to Cancun.
