I should say that we are not pissed off members...not the happiest at times but we are making it work. If we travelled more it would work even better. It is buyer beware and it wise to set your own limit prior and to know your stuff when you meet with them.
I was just curious less about the TTR benefits and more about World Pass ... seemed like that was the big push. Pay a big upfront and then get 7 free nights for $498 / year. Also, on average what % of referral weeks average members sell each year ... they were acting like basically is automatic to sell all of them every year.
Was wondering if TTR (or any other authorize agent) has a outlet (such as a web site ) where referral weeks are advertise for sales to non-members ? Would be interested in comparing prices using Referrals to package vacation prices ...
It just might get to a point that the Member /non-member ratio will be so high that the referral bonus would not be realistic. So it is a bonus in the short term, but reduce your long term expectations.
Everybody has Referrals. I think it would be a mistake to buy-in assuming you will reduce your $$ invested by using the Referrals. Really hard to get rid of them, not because they aren't a good deal (sometimes), just because they are so plentiful. There is even a good Facebook page to help you get rid of them but some people live on that page and pounce on people as soon as they ask about Referrals. Too much work for us. We bought because we think it will work for us WITHOUT referrals. Everyone is different in what they plan to use it for and how much they can travel. For years we wouldn't even talk to them about joining, now Suz is retired and I plan to in the next few years. We hope to be doing a lot more traveling then. Firm
I would hope you don't mean actually BUYING a referral week...most members should be giving them out free. If you're paying for the ability to use a referral week plus paying the referral rate to TTR, you're way overpaying!
Exactly!!! Why pay some one let's say $250 to get 25% off a $225 / night room when you can get that room for $160 / night on a site such as Alpha Rooms. The perks are nice but not that $nice. Just attend the sales pitch and the person who gave you the referral week gets a $250 credit.
We are looking into possibly buying in next month, though from what I have seen and read it might not make sense for us, I dont want RCI or world pass, we only plan to vacation at TTR, so if its not at least on par with what we average a package price for plus a small fee for the upgrades, then its just not right for us. We will have to see what they are willing to offer.
