I love beers from all around the world but my true love is brewed in the U.S. craft beer scene. There are some amazing brews coming from this country lately. We are moving to Bend, OR in summer 2016 and I can't wait. There are 17 breweries in the the downtown area and not a bad one in the bunch. In fact, it has become the Napa Valley of brewing with people flying in from all over the world to do brewery tours. It's a very thriving segment of the tourism industry.
Just to let everyone know - I found a craft beer store 4 miles from TTR! THE BEER BOX | GRANDES CERVEZAS DEL MUNDO In fact, it's sort of between the airport and the resort, if you venture downtown just a bit. Bonus - Google Street View shows what appears to be a lingerie store next door. I'm not certain, because my Espanolish isn't muy goodo. I emailed them to ask if they'd deliver, but being so close, it might be worth a cab ride - except that they don't open until 5:00 PM. If anyone has been there, I'd love to hear a report Thanks!
Ashamed to admit - I just noticed the snowmen (or women? Or M/W?) in the background. Epic. :headbanger:
Hahaha I didn't realize what it looks like is going on either. It is actually a Snowman with a Snow-woman behind him riding on a sled. But with the garland in the way, it kind of looks like a reenactment of some of the games I have seen played at the sexy pool. Glad you found that beer store. If you booked USA Transfers for your ride from the airport, I bet the driver will stop there for you.
Man, that's a huge chain of stores. And most of them open at noon. I wonder why Cancun has such messed up hours. I wish they would show something of what they carry.
They have a Facebook page, but it's all in Spanish, and I'm not. Here are some photos from a Yahoo search: I see Sam Adams, Modelo, several Rogue, and lots of non-interesting things. Another one: Note the Duvel big bottle at top right, and gift pack of something at top left. Here's a photo of a menu, but I'm not sure if it's draft or bottles. You'll have to embiggenate, as it's a small photo. And perhaps the most uplifting (to me): I see Chimay, La Chouffe, Hacker-Pschorr, Delirium Tremens (for real?!?) and what looks like a Mexican offering on the bottom row.
Nice call outs. In PA they do not sell beer at regular stores, we have very special liquor laws. So grocery stores do not sell beer. However, a few years back a special semi high-end food store called Wegmans made its way to my area. I don't know the legal ways this all was worked out, but they have a Pub in the grocery store, and the also sell beer. Their selection is huge and they specialize in specialty beers. A friend and I have spent many many hours in the Pub, and then spent way too much on beer to go. It's a fun place!
