Depends on how much plan to tip.... we tip A LOT, breakfast, day bartenders, lunch, day bartenders again, dinner, night bartenders, maids..... EVERYONE :) We take a little bit extra to buy some things in the gift shop like water, chips, candy whatever..... so it is strictly how much you will be tipping.

How long are you staying? We tip about $100 a day....... on average. If you need more on the trip there is ATMs however I suggest only withdrawing from a bank....... but a short taxi or bus ride will get there quickly.

Lets see....$100 x 400 guest = $40,000 a day...or $280,000 per week. Assuming 100 full time employees. They are making $145,600 in tips alone per year!!?? Think I need to quit my job and work at TTR!

I would totally agree!!! BUT you have to think about it that is about 20 people splitting that $100 a day........ maid, five hundred bartenders, waiters........... soooo in the scheme of things maybe not lol

I bartended here in Texas for almost 10 years.... the tips are good...... we asked the people around there (we met some people that live there and hung out a couple years with them- and my stepdads family is from Mexico) at Margaritaville in downtown Cancun (the strip) they make $4USD a day....... no matter how long your shift is....... 2 hours-20 hours.....plus tips....... another friend did scuba diving lessons at another resort it was $90USD to do a one hour dive and he made $2 for every person that he took....... I think I will stick with living in Texas and visiting TTR and giving them all my money hahahahaha

Yea it really depends on how much you tip, because really that is all you need money for, aside from excursions and if you go buy stuff.

If you are going on the Boobs Cruise, you need cash and tip money for that. If you booked USA Transfers for your ride, then you need cash and tip there too.

A simple tip breakdown could be:

    $5 - maid service
    $5 - breakfast
    $20 - day drinking
    $5 - lunch
    $10 - dinner
$5 - pre/post dinner drinks at quiet pool bar
    $10 - $20 PatyO's drinking

So that's like $60-$70 bucks per day on tips. I am not saying this is exactly what I do, but a pretty good baseline. Things vary from day to day. If someone goes above and beyond they will get hooked up more. Other times you might not even make all the meals or make it out to PatyOs. I have gotten to know many workers, so now my tipping is different. If you don't tip, you will still get good service, but do what you feel comfortable with.

I am assuming an equal split with all 100 employees. Even if there are 200 employees that would be 72,800 per year...and that doesn't include their normal wages. Maybe it is like a strip club and they pay TTR to work there..lol.

Been hearing that for years, but have noticed they still seem to be able to have smart phones and a car.

I still tip about 15 to 20 % because they work hard and deserve it, not because of the wages they sopossable make or don't make,

So based on the industry standard of 15%, if the Hotel package is $2,500 I tip about 400 for the time I,m there , dividing it up amonst the bartenders/maids /servers/towel boy /cook/ ect.

On top of that I bring another 200 for incidentals, and use Visa whenever I can.

What you do is totally up to you and your financial means, not every one can afford to tip graciously like some others.

    Enjoy your trip
