It's ok to drink the water and the ice, it's all filtered on the resort.

Ice and water at the resort are both completely fine to use. The hotels have their own water filtration systems, so everything is safe. I think there is even a little sign by the sink that says the water is fine. I normally drink the bottled water when in the room (because it is cold), but I have no problem drinking the water when brushing my teeth, and I have also been known to just stand/sit in the shower for extended periods of time with my mouth open "re-hydrating" (I am like a fish, and do this at home too, haha). All the ice at the bars is fine. I mean everyone uses it all day every day, and the frozen drinks are made from it.

The thing you have to watch is if you go off the resort to an island or on a excursion. If you are in the jungle, clearly there isn't any filtration going on. You have to be observant what is being used, and what you are drinking if in a remote location.

As soon as you have a fountain drink , ie coke, soda water, orange, you are drinking 90% tap water and 10% mix (give or take).I,m sure there not cleaning salads ect,, in food prep with bottled water, so every one has been consuming tap water in one way or another for years.

According to all I've heard through the years, the Mexican resort areas are required to have functional water filtration systems for drinking water and ice.

I've never had issues between Cancun, Cozumel, La Isla Mujeres or Puerto Vallarta.

The pool water is the one to watch out for. By mid afternoon it is warm and murky and, I'm pretty sure it's a lethal concoction of ass stew. Do not get it in your mouth or your drink (now would be a great time to put in a plug for Bubba kegs as they have an excellent lid). Now I know this going to be gross but....at any given time there are dozens of people with Montezuma's revenge and they still get in the pool. I don't care how how clean they try to get themselves, there is still e-coli lurking in those nether regions just waiting to be set free by the gentle lapping action of the pool water. Now that those little suckers are water born and the sun is heating the pool up their virility is increasing and they are desperately looking for a new host to spawn in. Lather, rinse, repeat. Everyone worries about the urine....newsflash, though the idea is unpleasant, urine is sterile so not much to worry about there. This has been your daily PSA for pool water safety. Stepping down off my box now.

mmm.. lets do a AWIC off someones wet nipple .

AI posted something similar in another thread, and it seams people are aware of this, but don't want to know.

They should have some of those French Bede ,s in the pool washrooms .

This is not a TTR problem, but most resorts are the same,, don't drink the pool water :)
