Ha! If the plane is burning, trust me, the flip flops won't slow me down!

Nice shorts and a collared shirt are fine. Footwear is pretty much anything but flip-flops.

Unless Donald is in the restaurant of course. Your attire effects his meal for some reason, even though he should be focusing on Bonnie :D Bring a tux just in case.

Donald I have to admire the length of time you've maintained your views on this and made them well known :D Everyone needs a hobby.

The first time we went I packed a couple of pairs of pants for the restaurants and never wore them....way too hot. I'd wear nice shorts, a collared shirt,a and nice leather sandals (although open toed) and nobody batted an eye. We found that the majority of the men were dressed that way as well.

I always wear light linen pants and shirts and have never felt hot...I like to compliment how sexy my wife is dressed!

At the risk of making some upset, I have to agree completely with Donald on this. Most do not reserve at the nice restaurants (Italian and Asian) anyway. But when you do, it is really nice if the guys take just a little bit of time and make one small effort. It just looks bad in my opinion when the ladies are all dressed up and the guy is in shorts, a tired T shirt and sandals.

the atmosphere is nice and the service is excellent in these restaurants. The waitstaff in the Italian are wearing black pants and gold vests with ties. Alejandro, the maƮtre d is always in a white shirt and tie.

If the staff is dressed WAY better than you, you are not trying.

Bring 2 pairs of linen pants and a few nice shirts. As Donald said, wear your dress shoes on the plane on the way down and wear them going home. You can wear them with jeans if you want.

This past trip seemed to have a lot of people showing up for dinner with shorts, t-shirt and sandals. It really takes away from a nice atmosphere in the restaurant.

Just an opinion, you're entitled to yours also. Just really nice to see couples where both make an effort for the short dinner time.

Well, I guess some people will be offended by Matt's shoes since they are open toe style. I've never been one to be offended by what other people wear and I believe that what other people think of you is none of your business.

Never said I was offended, also do not care what you wear. I just think it is a nice restaurant with a very nice atmosphere. When lots of people dress down, it just kind of lessens the overall atmosphere they are trying to have in there for all to enjoy.

The sandals really are not the point. Nice dress shorts with a collared shirt and nice leather sandals could still look dressy. Sloppy shorts and t shirt do not look good in the restaurant with any shoes.

Yes I do not care what you do. I do appreciate sitting near other couples at the restaurant that have both given a little effort and dressed for dinner.

I would like to think you would appreciate sitting by us :p.
Yeah, his shoes aren't as dressy as they could be but aside from that, we put forth the effort to dress up....nice dress/golf shorts and button up shirts. I don't even think he's bringing any t-shirts....aside from what he wears on the plane.
We really want to try all of the restaurants this trip since we didn't last time, I think we only made it to one, maybe two restaurants. Hopefully they'll pass.
