In reading through the older posts, I found one where someone needed medical attention and the Mexican hospital was hesitant to treat as the victim's US health insurance wasn't valid in Mexico. Steve chimed in later in the thread saying he is always amazed that Americans travel there without additional insurance. Is this something you guys get commonly? Rate was around $50 for a couple so no biggie...I've just never heard of it and don't really know who to contact. Google here I come I guess. Do you do this?

Blue Cross PPO covers you out of country, I even have the mobile app that shows where they accept it at in Cancun. Its called Blue world wide for anyone that has Blue Cross Blue Shield.

Heard stories they will not treat you without a credit card,, they do not accept travel insurance , its up to you to keep the paper work and make a claim.

    That said I

    Never travel without it ,

very cheap, we pay 200 a year for a couples package and we can travel as much as we want ( each trip cannot be over 17 days).

We love to go for Halloween. Hurricanes like to form around Halloween. No worries though because we always have Travel insurance that time of year. Injuries, Hospital,etc...and especially for Hurricanes

We purchase ours from AAA. supposedly it provides up to $1million to get you out of the country should the need arise. I think ours was $75.
I remember a Mexico trip 10 years ago where a guy thought he was suffering a heart attack and they had to get together $25,000 in cash to get him out of the country.
So, we never travel without some sort of insurance to "get me the hell home" !!!

Triple A (AAA Auto) called Mexican Travel Insurance but you got to be a member if you are, If I remember it was $30 for a week.

Did mine thru AAA..$60 each for trip coverage and medical of $25K each and $500K each for med. transport back to US hospital. Kind of pricey but worth it for peace of mind I guess. Price was in line w/ online options and since I booked via AAA was simpler.

Another option are travel Credit credit cards , for an annual fee you get coverage and points.

all cards are different , so research is the key.

All insurance will not cover pre-existing conditions, so just cause they didn't ask if you have a problem , does not mean your covered .
