What do you guys do for this? I normally tip everywhere but I didn't know what was expected here. I was thinking give the bartender $10 at the beginning of the day and tell him to keep 'em comin'!:huepfen013:

Some tip 10 or 20 once a day, others tip per drink, This trip we are going to tip 10 at the start of the day, at both the quiet and sexy pool. We tip per drink at PatyO's as we normally use the waitress when she comes by. Also don't forget the maid, and even a 5 for the grounds crew, they are often overlooked and do a wonderful job keeping the grounds looking immaculate.

If you wish to be remembered... tip!

Pool Bartenders ...I usually start the vacation with a handshake and a $20 ...then as I remember or have cash on me that is not wet....note: the guys at the bar pool their tips ... I asked
PattyO's ....try to tip at the beginning of the night when its not a zoo and you can get eye contact...after that toss in what you care to but they are so busy it makes little difference in the speed of service...they are going flat out and working with the equivalent of 8 arms and a smile.

I normally tip $2 for breakfast and 2 to 5$ for lunch...and 5 to $10 for dinner depending on where I am eating.

We tip the maid $20 the first day...buy putting it under their name card in the room...and $10 about every other day.

We tip USA Transfers at least $5 each way (rule is normally 2$ per bag they have to lug)

I tip the bell hop a fiver for dragging our bags to my room.

I have even learned to tip the fellow at the door to the sit-down restaurants...who normally controls reservations and the speed by which you are seated (hint hint)

All in all ...tipping costs me about 30.00 a day on average (I am not a huge drinker)...which I am totally fine with. I see others tip nothing and the staff works just as hard.

REMEMBER...tip means (to insure promptness) ...TTR is a perfect place to enjoy its benefits ...hell these days the wait staff back home snarl at you if you don't leave 15% for crappy service and spotty food.... I actually love the fact that a few dollars makes a difference in my stay...and the life of the folks at TTR who serve us.

Do what feels right...and what you chose to afford...but don't be pressured if its not your thing or in your budget!

(oh yeah...and this is most obvious ...ask the restaurant staff to change your 10's and 20$ for smaller bills ...they can normally rummage it up in about 5 minutes...the front desk is not suited to this purpose!)

I totally agree with this! I remember giving a guy a $20 in Cabo that treated us really well back in the 90's and he actually told me it was too much. That's why we always budget tips. We bring the 1's and 5's with us so we don't have to deal with trying to break a 20.

I usually bring around 200 U.S. $ to just tip with. You get better service and help the tenders to know you respect their hard work..

How do you know who to give the $20 handshake to? Do you pick randomly, the first bartender to serve you, the guy who says he's going to be there all week?
I love the idea of topping a larger amount at the beginning of the week because I'm very likely to forget after I have been drinking for a few days. But I also don't want to short change any of the other bar tenders by dishing out a twenty to one bartender. Do they pool tips? Do they share the fact that a couple tipped well with their fellow bartenders?

Totally agree! You will not find a harder working staff than the staff at TTR. Those people work really hard to make sure you have a great vacation so take care of them.
Also..We like to tip the people that you don't have every day contact with such as the grounds keepers. Those guys work just as hard or harder than the rest of the staff so don't forget about them :)
