Having a 9 story construction project going on 100 feet from the sexy pool would definitely take the sexy right out of it. I wonder if they would turn the quiet pool into the sexy pool during the construction? It's Mexico, I'll believe it when I see it.
If they plan to add 150 rooms they'll have to close down, there just no way the pools or restaurants could handle that many more people. That's basically a 50% increase. The could update the place, new rooms etc but adding a significant amount of new rooms means ripping out 1/2 the resort. I guess time will tell what will happen, lets just hope the price doesn't go up lol
It's hard enough to get a dinner reservation now, even as a Premier member, on sold out or near sold out times. What would they propose with an additional 300 guests? Maybe a huge restaurant/bar complex on top of the new tower. That would be cool. Still doesn't address the pool crowding issue though.
last week while i was there ,, a group of engineers were walking the place and i being a true NYer, followed them and eavesdropped.. ( thank goodness for high school spanish(.. the chatter was to move the beach somehow and extend the sexy pool towards the water....... go easy on my eavesdropping,,, i said high school spanish,,,,, i also bought in this trip and directly asked if they had plans for closing , and the answer was absolutely not,,, they said the party will continue through the renovations.
From the man himself Last Tuesday I was in Patios with my wife. The owner of Temptation came over to talk to us. Mainly my wife, I think as he was interested in meeting and getting input from another Latino. Although it was loud and he did have broken English, I asked him about the renovation. He did say they will not close, only will close necessary areas. He did not elaborate on the extent of the renovation. He said they will be adding 100 rooms to the property. That seemed to me to be the importance of the project as he didn't mention any other info. I wish could share more details of the renovations, but that all I got out of him.
Observations last week #1 repairing roof over bufet. if they were building up they would not do majot repair #2 repaired fountain and installing BOSE speakers in front lobby ,, same those are , $$expensive cosmetic to do if you were planning on tearing down in January.
when I pressed for details ... most of what already has been posted we confirmed ..except the only difference of opinion is that I heard they are adding a 4th floor everywhere instead of a tower....who knows?! ...plus...a new upscale lounge over the buffet restaurant and infrastructure upgrades all over the place. I suspect ...elevators are on the list. The hotel is naturally split between quiet side and sexy side... when they do around the sexy pool... the sexy pool will move to the quiet pool area. AT NO TIME will the hotel close for business. Please remember the owners run a constuction business and own other properties. I suspect it will take in excess of a year to complete the project ...estimated at over 25 million at this point. The other thing that they are doing is standardizing a lot of things including customer service and food stafety standards.(most of the best staff have been rotated to other stations to improve them and teach the others how to offer better service). The condiments on the tables all have handwritten service dates on them and all the coolers have posted temperature ranges on them as well as asset numbers. The cooks are constantly monitoring the buffet temperatures. ... bottom line..they are working on increasing the customer service and quality of food handling...we all know they must do this to handle higher numbers and increase the overal stantards of the hotel to offer a slightly higher quality standard. Final note ... all the little things are simply a bit better ...everything from peeling paint to landscaping and sound systems. Security is in house now ...speaks english and monitors things very very well....everything from letting the sexy party roll on (except for men taking their bottoms off)...to monitoring the use of cameras in areas where taking pics are posted as restricted. It is now my firm belief that they will do whatever they can to minimize any disruption to the party we know and love....their goal is to enhance it...not ruin it.
It has always been my opinion that they won't close, but will continue to make renovations/upgrades as they always have. That said I will party like it's the last time! :daveandmo: George
