If someone knows more please chime in.

Last year we became friendly with several employees. We were told that TTR is a highly sought after place to work and most of the employees are grateful for the job. I'm sure the scenery is part of the perk but that the resort lets people tip is a huge.

I could be mistaken but I believe many employees get $6-$10 a day. If I am I would be curious to know the correct amount. I know for a fact other resort town employees make that amount in Mexico.

With that said if you got a $1 tip from 100 people that day your income would go from $10 to $110.

Lets say you make $20/hr your raking in $160 a day. If you worked at TTR USA it would be equivalent to $1760.00 a day with tipping.

I'm not saying the're going out buying a lamborghini. But lets be honest it allows them to feed their family.

I'm sorry if this is coming across as a social lecture because its NOT. But if I can give a buck for great service and it helps that much....I bring a pocket full of them.

Last year at the sports bar there was a bartender I do not remember his name but he was dam good. He made us a good stiff drink and always smiled. My wife had him make some crazy stuff that I dint think even had names. My friends and I all tipped him a 20 at the end of the week as well as the tips when we were there. Well worth it

I've always tipped, however my first trip drinks anywhere but the quiet pool seemed weak. Maybe because staff didn't know us. I guess we look more reserved? Every subsequent trip drinks are either fine or actually too strong!

There is a very simple solution. If you think your drink is too weak, go back to the bar and ask for a single shot of whatever liquor you have in your drink and leave a tip for the shot. Move away a bit from the bar and dump the shot in your mixed drink. They will see you doing this and up the strength of your drink next time. Of course you could just hand the drink back and ask for it to be stronger but I find this a bit harsh.

Gabriel is awesome, Dan and I spent at least an hour or so every night of our last trip sitting at the bar and talking with him. Not sure if he was at the sports bar a year ago but it sounds like it could have been him :)

Treating the bartenders with respect and being friendly trumps a bigger tip from a guest who is demanding every time.
