We have an Olympus Stylus Tough T-830 and I love it. It take great pictures, it's water proof to 33', shock proof up to 7', dust proof, freeze proof to -15F, has a 5x optical zoom. Just a great little camera.

GoPros are a little pricey unless you use it a lot. There are several cheaper models, but be wary because I have read several reviews on Amazon about cheap knock offs. We are looking for a good camera to go diving with and for use out of the water.

Yeah and nobody wants to be that guy who is wearing a gopro on a headstrap or chest strap at TTR. I'd say for casual picture taking a waterproof point and shoot will do you well.

How about a GoPro on a jock strap for those close up action shots? Nah, I didn't think so.

I've got two (we thought we'd lost one( Olympus Tough Stylus waterproof/shockproof digicams and a Panasonic Lumix waterproof/shockproof variation. Both are really nice, easy to use, etc.

I prefer the Panasonic for it's ease of use, Stacia likes the Olympus better as it seems to take better pics.

Nikon have just released the Nikon AW130, came out in March 2015. I'll be replacing my water damaged camera from last year. Yes it was a waterproof fuji xp50, it rained all day on the Boobs Cruise and the camera did not survive.
