Just an FYI for anyone using the Scopolamine patch for the first time...blurry vision is a very common side effect with this medication. It can make you feel like you're going a little crazy if you're not aware it's the medication causing it!! It bothers some more than others, but for me it was bad enough that I had to remove the patch. Meclizine isn't quite as effective as the patch, but it's definitely a great option! Dry mouth is a side effect of both...guess we'll just have to drink more! :daveandmo:
I, Blondie, am very sensitive to medications but I have never had a problem with wearing the patch, thankfully. It can also be cut in half if need be. Last Oct. on the Boobs Cruise this couple sitting next to us were not having as much fun on the Boobs Cruise as they should have been, after watching her husband trying really hard to help her have a great time and her looking like she would rather swim to shore I asked if she was okay, she told me she felt like she was seasick. I gave her a patch and shortly after that the two of them were having the time of their lives. I ran into them the next morning when we were saying our goodbyes, which sucks by the way, and she came up and thanked me with a great big hug. She had an amazing cruise.
I bought those patches the other day, I think they were only 7 bucks here in Canada. Ill be using them for my May 9th BC. Thanks for the heads up...cheers!
The dry mouth side affect I can't tolerate. It's weird feeling and can't be fixed with drinking. I have really gave it a shot though.
I know what you mean! Actually, drinking alcohol will make dehydration and dry mouth worse unfortunately. The combination of Scopolamine or Meclizine with alcohol can also increase the risk for heat stroke, so it's really important to drink plenty of water. If you wear the Scopolamine patch and start feeling poorly while out in the sun...remove the patch, drink water and try to get out of the sun! Sorry about the lecture folks, but we all gotta look out for each other! Have fun, but be safe!!!
Awesome! I will have Jenn check with her Dr to see about getting some of these. She gets the car sick feeling sometimes as well. This would be great to have anyway. Thanks! Adam and Jenn
I used to use Gravol but after a recommendation I have used Meclazine four times for the cruise. All I can say is THANK YOU! It works awesome without the drowsiness and doesn't seem to matter with alcohol?
Oh I can't drink alcohol at all on a boat, I just meant water. Even with the patch I'm still seasick and nauseous enough to want off of there ASAP lol. I'm an extreme case no doubt. Did I mention that I've spent my entire life living a block from the ocean?! Pretty funny.
