Actually, we are getting the hell out of California next year (our baby graduates high school) and we are giving some consideration to the Austin or San Antonio areas but so far Bend, OR is in the lead. I really like my mountains and forests plus we are not fans of humidity (Cancun excepted). The number one negative to Bend is that it is a bitch to get to Cancun from there.

We live in Redding and know Oregon well. One of my daughters goes to Linfield College in McMinnville. My work takes me to southern Oregon often too. I was just in K Falls yesterday.
I was in Redding a few months ago. My sister lives there currently. (Although she is moving back to Bend soon)
That's funny, I have several friends from Redding that have moved to Bend. I remember Bend when it was just a sleepy little logging town with a great ski mountain. It has matured an awful lot.
