Lol.. The manager of the store that I went to, called me a few seconds ago! He wanted to offer me free beer LOL. But he asked me to not put anything on social media about the incident with his store "which is a big chain". I denied the free beer, I'm not a whore and will not be treated like one :) just wanted to let you all know because I thought it was funny :) see you all soon! We are going to party! Love to you all! :)

That's disgraceful. I have such high regard for anyone and their families who has/had anyone in the forces.

Thank you so much!! Your wife's scars are something to be proud of!!! If someone was dumb enough to make a comment about her scars, that just shows there ignorance. Tell her that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, not the self absorbed dumb asses :)

Burns my ass when I hear or read stuff like this. Crazy thing is as patriotic as America is only 1% of us have actually served in the armed forces. Isn't it ironic that service members put their lives on the line for the assholes back home that have the freedoms to do their thing ie..freedom of speech against service members, not selling them beer, burn the flag ect.. Sorry for the rant but after serving I have this profound sense of patriotism.

Thanks again for the sacrifices you have made for our country. I had it easy that I never had to fight overseas during my enlistment.

AJL, thank you for your service and yes it sucked that he did not make the right choice.

You were not drunk, had another issue so the right result would have been you being able to purchase.

Not defending the result (which was obviously wrong) but to shed some light on how it happens:

the liquor police, the Alcoholic Beverage Commission in Texas, sets Rules, lots of Rules about the sale of alcohol. If the clerk, usually some minimum wage earning young person makes a mistake THEY get the citation, the fine, etc. As an example, if a clerk is found to have not properly ID'd a purchaser, they get a court date and a hefty fine, often 500 to 1500 dollars. The business doesn't pay it. So this young kid has this huge fine and they make squat at their job. Then the shop usually fires them for not following procedure.

Multiple issues at an establishment results in the shop getting in trouble.

Selling to someone you "believe" may be intoxicated is by its nature a judgment call. Everyone tells a story, especially drunks. So as a result clerks simply take the safest route. If they say no, then they know they cannot get fined.

That is why you get clerks demanding an ID from someone that looks 60+, and if they have no ID, no sale. Common sense says the person is over 21, but to be absolutely safe, no sale.

    Just a perspective turn.

Thanks again for your service, good luck building your strength and endurance. Hope to buy you all the beer you want at Temptation some day.

Firstly I had ID, second I was not appearing to be drunk except my limping" shit, they could have gave me a breath test right then" I was injured in defense of the the right of choices that young man had, and he made the wrong one in my, and ALOT of others eyes. I respect your stance that his fear of a fine and losing his job made him behave in such a manner, and thank you for thanking me for my service, it was my honor. I just hate getting looked at because I limp.. Very simple! Thanks, and I do understand, just one line I don't fare well with "Everyone tells a story, especially drunks" sometimes stories are true. Thank you for your input:) BTW I was stationed at Hood for a yr.

Again, I was just using the ID example as just that, an example. It was not related directly to your tale.

I also agreed that the "limp" should not be an actual indicator.

My comment about drunks have a tale, was merely to point out, if you have ever worked with the public, no one tells stories more than someone intoxicated. The reason that was referenced is, that these people do not take the time to really dig down and confirm or justify their initial snap decision, they just take what to them is the safest, quickest, easiest path.

Look at what I wrote, I said it was wrong, said it was the wrong actual outcome.

It was not a justification, just pointing out some of the things that cause these types of things.

The problem is too many laws, regulations and rules. Common sense is just not allowed anymore.

If a person is with a group, someone in the group keeps ordering drinks, different waitresses/bartenders deliver the drinks to the group, they do not notice that one person in the group is drinking more than his share, that person then gets in an accident. Whoever he hurts can then come back against the bar/waitstaff for continuing to serve an "obviously intoxicated person". The responsibility should be solely on the person drinking the drinks. But the laws say the bar/staff knew or should have known the person was intoxicated.

I was just trying to point out what causes some of the stupid responses sometimes by help at establishments that sell/serve alcohol.

None of what I wrote/have written was in any way stating you were incorrect.
