Looks like you can use this as a WiFi hotspot/router to connect multiple devices? Do they charge you by amount of data used or just the $12 flat a day? We usually put a plan on my phone to talk to the kids and deal with emails daily but gets a bit tight on bandwidth towards the end.
Mexico SIM Card | Buy Prepaid, Refillable Telcel SIM Cards US$60 for 3GB of Data... Works great outdoors, a bit flaky indoors (depending where your room is in the resort). It's the best option we have found.
We have never had a problem connecting with kids back home via Facetime using the resort wifi connection from our room.
I am with Verizon and pay 17 US$ a month and can call and face time with my iPhone from Mexico. Someone might have already said this, but I figured it was worth mentioning. Also, you can create a hotspot for someone else. Hope this helps, good luck and safe travels ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It connects to up to five devices. No data cap or throttling. The only complaint, if any, would be the $29.99 FedEx charge, but it sure is convenient.
Hi, I was looking at the mobile hotspot you are talking about here. Any issues with it? I am thinking of getting it based on your recommendation.
If one purchases the internet package,, does your Texting go through that or is that still on your phone service ??
It depends on what phone you have. If you have an iPhone and you are texting and iPhone, it will send a message just like normal but over the Wi-Fi automatically (as long as your phone is connected to the Wi-Fi). If you have some other phone, you will need to use a messaging app like Skype, Whatsapp, Kik, etc... If you tried sending a normal text message, it would just try to send it over the cellular network which would cost you $$$.
Does anyone know if the Verizon Jetpack would work for wifi at the resort? Hubby has one for work we were thinking of bringing to communicate with the teens back home.
