Ok, so we joined Cancuncare in January 2011 after being told about it on our first trip to Temptation,it was our understanding that the forum was a place for people to go and ask Question's , stay in touch with new friends, share photo's , stories , experience's and plan things like theme night's and allow people to meet on here prior to there trip so they might feel more comfortable.oh ya and sign up for the Boobs Cruise, lol
and although we only have 50 posts, we are about to go for trip number 7, so we know a little about the resort and we do check this forum almost daily, that being said we can not understand the way some people are acting on Cancuncare, truthfully its not safe to ask a question on here because of how it might be preceived, we can also see why so many regulars have left the forum and started there own private groups on Facebook, and that is a shame because these people who have valuable advice choose to say nothing and the forum no longer get's there input.
we all fell in love with this resort because it was a place to go and let loose ,and not have to worry about being judged, so why should a few people that are so Judgemental about others on this forum ruin what was a good thing.
I have been in Law Enforcement for 26 year's and my skin is thick, but even I hesitated to write this because of what will be said, but if people would just hit the pause button before you post a reply and try to keep in mind the purpose of this forum then alot of people might come back and post again.
and one last thing , hijacking a thread to increase your number of post is a little crazy, the tread today about the Biniki contest was over the top on all level's.

Very well said. We're new to the forum, but it seems to me that the longer people are on here, it is very easy to start feeling like we're one big happy family. Although coming on the forum is like going to a family reunion; at every reunion someone usually says something they shouldn't have, and someone always gets pissed off.

I haven't been on here long and our first trip is coming up fast but have already seen some of what your talking about. I value the advise I have gotten here and look forward to meeting lots of great people. I don't know the history of this site nor do I need to. Having said that you approach and logic seems very professional and logical. Well said.

Know what you mean but I just take it with a grain of salt. I do think that is a problem with all social media today really. With being somewhat invisible people find it too easy to be off the cuff sometimes. I'm sure if these conversations were going on face to face things would be different. I still love being a member of CancunCare!

It's true. There is a lot of jumping on people here and not really in a fun way lol. Its hard not to comment sometimes but I mostly restrain myself. I don't like to see people pick on others size/weight....that almost broke me and made me comment....but I didn't bite.

Not everyone comments on the bad stuff.

Very well said, FlyerFan44. We've been to TTR 4 times since 2011, and are considering going back this spring. However, the reason we're not committed yet is due in part to some of the negativity that's crept into this forum. It makes us wonder whether the attitude seeping onto here is polluting the atmosphere at the resort, too.

We found this forum before our first trip, and it helped us meet people both at TTR and in our own home town who are now life-long friends. I have followed the forum ever since to live vicariously through people's trip reports, follow updates at the hotel, participate in theme night planning, and to offer reassurance to nervous newbies. There are so many people people on here I love to follow because they are hilarious, fun-loving, kind, and wise.

But, in the last year or so, the tone of the forum has changed. Perhaps the Battle Of the Grand Oasis started it--I couldn't say--but there seem to be a number of posts where accusations, name-calling, and arguing back and forth take over. There are a couple posters who seem to be completely unable to JUST STOP TYPING when they don't really have anything productive to contribute. And as soon as those people enter a thread, I'm out--I have no interest in risking being jumped on for my opinion, and I don't even want to be associated with the thread if things deteriorate.

So, here is what my Grandma would say (and there hasn't been a time in my life when Grandma wasn't right!:liebe011:

    1. "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all."
    2. "It is better to be silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt" (Okay, that might have been Ben Franklin, but it was one of Grandma's favorites.)
    3. "If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem."
    4. "You treat people nicely because of who YOU are, not because of who THEY are."
    5. "If you wrestle with a pig, two things are gonna happen: you're both getting dirty, and the pig's gonna enjoy it." (i.e. "Don't feed the trolls!")
    6. "You're full of prunes!" (okay, that has no relevance here, but Grandma said it a lot!)

I'll continue to be positive and respectful or completely silent.
    Laura

Yep, there are all kinds of people on ccc, just like in any group. The vast majority are really fun, flirty, party people. What you may not understand is, especially in the last year, there have been a good number of people sign up and woo people in a conversation and then bait them into a mean spirited arguement. They are referred to as "trolls" by many. I personally believe it is a very few people who post under different names. Here is how you can get an idea if you are dealing with one. If it seems suspicious, go to their page. If they have been members for some time (statistics) and have no friends, there's the first clue. Then look back under statistics and check out the threads they have started. If they all end up in a big fight, you have a troll. Check out their posts too and you may find the same trend.

Those who have been here many years are sick of these people turning our very friendly party atmosphere into a confrontational forum. At times, a person asking what seems to be a leading question may be mistaken for a troll and for that we would all be sorry. That, however, does not accurately reflect the true personality of this site.

Very well said and I agree 100% ! I did post on the bikini thread only because he started getting personal with Jess. Been on here since 2004 and usually don't get involved in bs threads like that one. Just kinda rubbed me the wrong way when he got on Jess. Like Double G said we are all kinda like family and I always stand up for my family! bikini contest in April ?
