Thanks parrothead. I wouldn't go so far as to say I'm a highly experienced diver, but I have been about 5 times and am quite framilar. I'm hoping he can just give me a test and go from there. If a shallow dive is all I can do, so be it.

 

No certified Divemaster can or will take you on anything deeper than a simple 30' dive.. You can dive the museum, dive the cross of the bay or the Turtle grass . That's about it from the resort.. Go take the classes and get PADI certified if you want great diving.. Cozumel is 90 minutes south and has world class diving. Love that place. Becoming certified and experienced opens an underwater world you have to see to believe!!!

Oh I bet! It's definately in my plans to get certified, but I doubt I'll be able to do that here in Canada before I leave for my trip. Can I get the certification there? How much does it cost? My buddy and his girlfriend were in cancun last year and did the cenotes and said it was an amazing experience! Can't wait!

My recommendation is you do your course work in Canada before you go (usually can be done on a weekend) and then do your referral dives in Cancun (4 dives over 2 days). Boris can help you with those.

Not sure where you are in Canada but most cities have year around dive shops that will have ongoing courses. PM me if you want Boris's email to get that set up.

Definitely get certified, it makes you a safer diver for yourself and gives you more options.

 

The Shitshow included a couple of spectacular single guys this year. I think they add to the experience. As others said, just be chill and don't lose your shit when you see all the open sexuality, and you'll be fine.
