Just returned from our 1st visit to Temptation ... Hands down, best adult vacay ever! Met some of the happiest, 20 plus year couples...everyone was so welcoming with not a care in the world. We will definitely be returning. Keep the negative incident in perspective, the lesson in mind and GO GO GO!
We are April addicts and we love it there. The Mrs. is normal shy but opens up at TTR. Don't let 1 negative thread scare you away, you will be sorry if you don't go. We have made a lot of good friends from all over the world there and try to plan yearly vacations so that we can see each other again. On any vacation you have a chance to bump into a jerk, but TTR is probably one of the safest places to deal with it.
To me it would be crazy to think about not going on a vacation to a particular resort because you heard of a fight there. Obviously that is not the norm, and a very isolated incident. Think of it is way(and I will go with all low end numbers). There are 384 rooms. At just double occupancy the resort can have up to 768 people. Now let’s knock that number down, because obviously it isn’t sold out all year long, and say the average number of guest per day is 500. Times that by the 365 days per year. Totaling 182,500 guests per year. Now let’s go with some inflated numbers. Say there are 2 fights every week and they each involve 2 people. That would be 208 people involved in an altercation each year. Based on the number of guests and the number of people in a fight that would mean there is a .1% chance that there is a fight at the resort on a particular day. Now based on the number of guests per day, the chance for YOU personally to be a part of one of the fights would be .0002% chance. Just looked up a quick stat online(so I can’t say it is 100% accurate), and the odds of dying in a airplane crash are 1 in 354,319 which is also a .0002% chance. So basically you have the same odds of getting into a fight at TTR on a particular day, as you do dying on the plane that got you there. If you are not comfortable with these chances, then you might as well not even go. Or, to take it one step further, you might not even want to leave the house, because you have a .01% chance of dying in a car accident.
That thread dominated the site way too much. It is like watching the evening news, when you watch the news in any town, they only show shootings, fires, severe auto accidents, etc. If you just watched the news you would assume that it is complete mayhem on the streets. Reality is different. You will have a great time and enjoy meeting LOTS of great people.
Just an FYI: In Mexico traffic violations are a criminal matter. It is not just a "fine". The officers have about 3 locations on the hotel zone road where they sit and wait. In addition, if you have any damage on the rental, real or claimed, you are also in for a very serious shake down. If you make a big stink at the rental location arguing about their claim, guess what? Friendly officer arrives and then you pay for the "damage" and your "disturbing the peace" stipend. I never rent vehicles in Mexico. You will leave the resort 4-5 times tops, Figure even $12 each way by cab (Temptation to La Isla), $24 round trip, that is $120 for five cab rides. You do not get tickets riding in a cab. I never rent vehicles in Mexico.
Thanks to everyone that has replied much appreciate the reassurance, balance will be paid and TTR is June bound. FYG I have driven in the States on many occasions but will not in Mexico as will either take the bus for the shops or cabs for anything else or even if we have the time take a tour, otherwise its like you said stay in the hotel and make new friends.
If you're going to not do something based on one account out of how many posts here then you're in for a boring life Hell if I stopped going to bars & pubs that have ever had some drunk asshole waving his dick at some other drunk asshole I'd sit in my living room drinking beer and watching Netflix all night lol Go, you'll have a blast. Make friends on CCC who will be there at the same time so you have people to rely on in the remote chance you'll need them.
Don't worry at all this is an rare incident. That is why this has been such a talked about topic on here. We have never seen something like this before. It has led to a massive thread. The reality is this is a rare occurrence with a few lessons. Main ones being don't go anywhere alone in a foreign country as they do not have the same level of freedoms and protections against corruption we have in our home country. The other being don't take things into your own hands get security and staff involved. Other than that have a freaking blast you wont want to leave at the end of your trip trust me.
There are many more caring, fun loving, crazy people that will become lifelong friends at TTR than anywhere else you could possibly go. Any place that serves alcohol will have its share of bad drunks, but the good and great drunks far outnumber them and will be there to make sure all have a great time and the trouble is kept to the absolute minimum. We've been 12 times and have seen and experienced the full spectrum. No place else like TTR! Enjoy!:headbanger::headbanger:
"Hell if I stopped going to bars & pubs that have ever had some drunk asshole waving his dick at some other drunk asshole" What kinds of bars and pubs are you going to? LOL
