If I were going to wear one, and not saying I have the guts to, I think I would be inclined to put it on well before alcohol was involved. The front and back of those things look rather similar, save a little less material in the back. Material you need for things. It would be easy to put it on backwards in an intoxicated state. Not sayin I have personal experience with this. lol
