Coolcat , even if your interpretation is correct,, the resort still over re acted by kicking out the persons involved for a shove,,,, after having his/her bank accounts drained by police , and low on funds to try and find another hotel.

People have been let back in for Farrrrrrrrrrrr worse.

So basically any dude can run up to the front desk run his mouth off and have you arrested and thrown in Jail, and held on $4,000 bail.
Not the resort I once felt safe in.

    A scam?

I spent last 10 years working/living overseas 3 years working in Nigeria, corruption capital of the world. Rule 1 keep a low profile and remember you don't have the same rights and privledges as you do at home.

If this had happen there, it would have been good chance the drunk guy was working with police, trolling for someone to get physical. Maybe that's not the case here but you never know.

I think you hit the nail on the head, the guy was working with the police and probably the hotel! Hot wife, big protective husband! It's sad to say but you were exactly what you were looking for!
Good luck getting something figured out, you two didn't deserve this!!

What I take from this is that everyone needs to watch out for the ATM at TTR even more. Lot of stories told about info being hijacked and accounts cleared - if the ATM is able to pump out thousands of US/Canadian dollars (max at our bank is $400 I think) there is a larger problem than we thought.

Send a copy of the receipt from the police to your embassy, they can ask how they came to that figure. At the least they will know there is some recourse to screwing tourists.

Oh and that I am glad we do not ever drink during the day! Too many completely blasted folks by 1PM at the pool, we wonder how they make it out at night..

Obviously, you don't go to TTR during the spring break with a woman that is attractive and drunk group of guys think they can do or say anything they want because they are on spring break. Or are you one of those drunk single guys that think you can do anything because you are on vacation? I have had my wife's ass grabbed while standing next to me and Amy the entertainment director at the time. The attitude is "It's Temptations". Lack of respect and no means no seems to be missing here. There isn't a husband out there that would not defend his wife with and asshole like this. Sorry you guys had to put up with this shit at the TTR. Seems if security was more on the ball they would have stopped it way sooner than it came to this point. Makes you wonder thou if you were not a target due to someone seeing you getting off the yacht and thinking you were a wealth target and easy to get cash from. Corruption in Cancun is everywhere. Old security staff was predictable but the new staff is unpredictable in their actions.

The problem here is that you Ingram folk are just too fit and attractive. I suggest you park yourselves at a buffet somewhere until you are 30-40% body fat (minimum) and all your problems will be gone (replaced by a whole new set of problems).

On the upside, this really sucked now but down the road this a story you have the most people don't and never will. A few things happened to me in my past that were terrible but they make great stories now.

We think this is a horrible story, gotta say if we seen any of our friends being escorted to the front desk with security and we witnessed an altercation we would have followed. I'm surprised that none of the people you were chatting with didn't follow you and have your back.. If others had gone to the front desk I would imagine the resort would have handled this differently.
Shit even if I didn't know you and seen what happened I would of followed to the front desk even if you told me you'd be right back.. a couple witnesses in your defense may have changed the out come. (jeff)

If the story is how you portrayed it, then I agree with your perspective.

The hotel was out of line without taking your side of the story into account.

If this guy was being a dick for a period of time and didn't take "no" for an answer, he deserved to be pushed away. I think you were pretty restrained after he pushed your wife (considering he was the asshole in this situation first). He probably should've gotten more than just a push back.

You seem like a reasonable dude who isn't looking for fights. Therefore, I would definitely support you if I saw this event unfold.

I think in the future security or the bartender should be told before this escalates. It might be a language barrier issue.

The Mexican cops might have taken advantage of this situation due to their corruption.

I just don't always assume the "single guy" is wrong in all of these instances.
