I'm a huge motorcycle road racing fan but I have never even heard of a fantasy race series. Sounds interesting but why not include Moto America/AMA Superbikes? It looks like, for the first time in 7 years, we have a legit race series back in the U.S. I'm so stoked to see Wanye Rainey and crew running this. And they are following FIM guidelines to help streamline our young talent into MotoGP and WSBK. I can't believe that Nicky Hayden is the sole remaining American rider and he is relegated to Tier 2 machinery. How far we have fallen from our near total dominance of GP racing from 1978 to 1993 and WSBK from the onset until the early 2000s. With the very notable exception of Ben Spies in 2009. What a season that was! One more week and our winter is over. Bring on P.I.!
The Spaniards have taken over to say the least.. The Americans did really well when the crazy two strokes were more sideways than in straight line. A lot credit it to flat track racing. I really hope the new direction of AMA makes a diff, it has been going down the toilet as far as attendance / tv coverage. Wife and I hope to make it to MOTOGP COTA race in TX within a year or two. Ideally in Europe
That he is. I still wish Nicky could had been at the Superprestigio. I think he could beat Marquez on a flat track. Of course, in typical Honda style, they threw cubic yen at Marquez's bike this year. That had to help.
We used to go to Laguna every year so we are not happy that they dropped it from the schedule last year. I first started going yo Laguna in 1982 for the AMA national race when Kenny would come back from Europe. That was some great racing. Even better were the GP races from '88 to '93. I loved the two strokes.
I raced a R6 here in NH at the NHMS for a couple years, loved it. Wish I didnt wait until I was in my 40s! Shane Narbonne is an up and comer in AMA, he still races up here and is really something on a super moto that they run during the Loudon Classic. I am able to download the GP races from Europe online so I get my fix through most of the year.
I used to race a GPz 550 in AFM 600 ModProd at Sears Point in the mid '80s. It was a blast. As for watching MotoGP, I refuse to pay Dorna for access on their website. I watch it on Fox Sports. I DVR it and watch I when I get up on Sunday morning with a Bloody Mary in hand.
