we booked about 4 weeks ago for the end of april (4/24-5/1)and got it for $1125 per person so that worked out to about $160 a night. We booked thru vacationstogo.com, you can also try cheapcaribbean.com that worked better for us two years ago. Ialso had to play around with the dates.

Its high because its overly booked and now they really don't care about the prices if you can afford it they will try to make room for you, We booked our trip in mid Nov. and we paid 3300 for 10 nights including air fair (flying from Montreal to Cancun is relatively expensive). That is in CAN dollar

The price of Temptation always seemed to be right in line with other 'similar' Cancun hotels. The value you get for the environment, experience, and fun is pretty much unbeatable for the $$$!!

That is an amazing price. Be worth the drive to Minneapolis from Winnipeg to pay only $110/night including flight! Where did you book that?

Booked on Feb 1 for April for 9 nights, for $2,160, with airfare. Checked 2 days later, and it was already $600 more. Checked 2 days later, and there was no more availability.

Book early, or pay the price.

When I was getting ready to book, I found the price difference (air+hotel) between mid-March and mid-April to be roughly 2x even 2-3 months in advance. In the end both the attractive price as well as avoiding spring break drove me to the later mid-April booking. Even with the airfare price settling down, the price for the hotel portion varied by 25% day to day, so I just watched the rates and grabbed when they hit my acceptable mark. I would assume my experience is about what you'd expect it to be with the demand-pricing model used by the travel industry. You just gotta work with it.

Orbitz...there's almost always a $150 promo code to be found online. We normally book 6 months out, and pay the same each trip. Mid-April through May is a time when there's a significant price drop...but booking out several months helps - especially with finding direct cheap flights. Anyone who says prices are going up either doesn't shop around or tries to book a last minute trip. Going during high season will also bump your rates, obviously. The couple who started this thread had all three factors working against them.

We paid 2,992.20 Canadian (which is 20% more than US dollar today :( ) on Expedia a week ago (7 days Hotel+Flight with Transat from Toronto) for March vacation.
Short notice and I think relatively good price.
Probably most of the people do not know, but prices changes throughout the day, and cheapest prices actually in the Wednesday night.
I checked it several times, and can't call it luck. Probably system works like that...
It's strange, that prices so jump up and down, but it's a reality.
