We felt it is important females and couples are aware of our latest experience. Twice in 24 hours my girlfriend and I have received calls to our room from a Mexican National claiming to be "one of the entertainment guys" soliciting my girlfriend and letting her know that he likes her. One call came during the day but the other at 4am. We love Temptations but this is an obvious concern for her safety that he knew her room number. The only time this room number was given by her was to staff for towels, activities and dinner reservations. She has not encouraged nor solicited any staff members here that would provoke this attention. They obviously have some sort of staff problem that should cause some concern for people attending Temptations. We just felt it is important for all upcoming guests to know.
Sorry you got concerned but ,,, To draw a conclusion that it is staff is ridiculous. Any one can pick up a phone and dial a random number. There are creeps every where, just cause they claim to be some one doesn't make it true. Also could be he was trying to solicite the previous occupant of the room. And yes report it to the front desk. Would you be calling a public ''Security Alert'' if someone called your house ? I know its a bit scarier when abroad, but just go and enjoy your vacation and unplug your room phone.
Good point Donald! I'd be concerned, but it's not like they were coming and knocking on your door. Report it to the front desk and unplug the phone.
We had a call to our room too in Dec, once they found it was the male half that answered the phone they hung up, our room door was visible from Patyo's. We just thought it was some idiot and thought no more of it!
Just a note to "unplugging your phone". I was considering doing this last trip as we went to another AI which had your usual timeshare vultures when you are there the first time. Glad I didn't since the second day there got a call that our brother in law died suddenly back home and we had to leave the next morning.
The most likely scenario, as has been suggested already, is that some drunk dialed a random room number. That it was an actual staff member calling is the most unlikely possibility I can think of. He'd be out of a job and out of the industry. In addition, Ent Staff guys are by nature outgoing and charismatic...and would, if anything playfully flirt around the pool with a hot girl...which is sort of his job. They see hundreds of hot girls each month...but he couldn't resist calling this guy's wife at 4 AM...when he'd be home in bed? I know I'm a TTR apologist...but this post made no logical sense. It was probably the drunk guy in the next room who liked the looks of his neighbor's wife...or the caller was a practical joker with no class.
My only security alert at Temptations is two years in a row (2013 and 2014), my debit card that I used in the ATM in the gift shop to pull out some $$$$...two years in a row my account got hacked and by some thieves duplicating my card. Bank showed action that purchases were by a physical point of sale. My card was in my possession and this occurred the week following. Somehow they were able to duplicate my credit card. So, lessons learned...bring plenty of cash.
We always unplug the hotel phone. Family can reach us with cell phone. And besides, we stay at the Rio! So no one of any importance knows we are at TTR. How come you never hear of women calling at 4am? Except for nut job ex wifes/ girlfirends lol.
To be fair, there are some security concerns at TTR just like there are anywhere you go. From our POV most of the security concerns are from fellow guests that don't know how to behave. Over the years there have been a few guests that didn't understand "no means no", or tried to creep some photos, and some reports of guests putting extra things into drinks. I wouldn't be surprised if a guest standing behind you when you picked up your towels overhead your room number and remembered it. I also wouldn't be surprised if it was some staff person because when you do hire so many people top work such a large place you never have 100% great people. There are many people in this world and not everyone is nice and cool. You should let TTR know so they can address it. Personally we feel as safe at TTR as we would in our hometown but we still try to use common sense when on vacation.
