I think every hotel in Vegas has official looking people standing at a desk in the lobby who come up to you and ask if you want to see a free show. Say no, it's a timeshare pitch and it'll take 4 hours and you have to be up at some ungodly time. Got caught once the first time we went over a decade ago.
How does one get "suckered" into going to the sales pitch? Ive never understood that. Been attempted on us many times at various destinations. We say "no thanks" and keep walking. Havent been "suckered" into going one time. Interesting.
Just a few things to note. Premier membership is not a time-share. There is no maintenance fee, you are not "sharing" a specific time during the year. The people in the lobby that you first talk to are not the premier sales people. Their job as far as I can tell is to get you to go through the premier presentation. You don't have to go through them in order to walk up to the premier office and get the presentation, but there are some cash perks if you do. (See marshe's post ) The people in the premier office have never been rude "sharks" to us. As a matter of fact they have always treated us with respect, and they are very nice whenever I go to say Hi when we are at TTR. Yes it is their job to sell the program but isn't that what sales is all about? Yes you can bargain with them and negotiate perks, but where in Mexico doesn't this happen? We have been very pleased with our membership. I'm not trying to rile anyone up, so please don't attack me for my description of our experience with the premier people. ( I bought 2 Sony TVs instead of Visios because I just liked the look of the Sony's better even though the Visios were cheaper. It was a matter of choice.)
very well said.there are many people for or against buying memberships. The problem I have is one either side a attacks the other. It seems like some people who bought the memberships get very defensive because they don't want to feel like they got ripped off. I'm not saying if you bought one you did get ripped off I'm just stating an observation. For me like a lot of other people these things simply do not work for us financially. The perks you receive in my opinion are not worth the price you pay. If I was at a different point in my life where I visited the same resort many times I may have a different opinion. But most of the time when we booked our trip we are bargain shopping. my suggestion to everyone is this. If you visit Temptation and you have it in your head that there is no part of you that wants to buy a Premier Membership simply say no thank you and keep walking.I have talked to a few people who bought memberships and suffer from buyers remorse. They get caught up in the moment. Do not be one of those people. The sales people are very skilled at what they do and they will tell you a lot of what you want to hear once you get back home and read the small print you may realize it was not the best decision for you. However if a Premier Membership is what you are looking for there are many people on the site that are very happy with the memberships they bought. I would suggest talking to them one on one and maybe getting a few tips from them. Another option is purchase a membership from one of the members who are not happy with theirs you may get a very good deal
It's what you make of it... If you go into it thinking it's a sales pitch and you're not interested then you'll be miserable. Wife and I did it our first trip and we just made the best of it. Met Orlando (he was the "mean sales person"). We asked some fun questions. He showed us around the hotel, introduced us to all the staff, and tried to sell us on Original. That's what Temptations is to me. It's all about people having fun and being open minded in a casual atmosphere. I've never met so many happy people in my life in one small place. People at Temptations are just out to have fun regardless. Sales people are just people trying to make a living. Orlando may have been better at it than others, but it's still what you want to make of it. When he tried to sell us the yacht club, I said, "Yeah, as long as you'll be the captain." When he tried to sell us the "gold" membership, I said, "Don't you have something in nickel or maybe aluminum?" He finally agreed to take us on a tour of "Isla Mujeres". Which, he's never done. Next time I see him, I'll have to see if he'll pay for my Boobs Cruise! If you find yourself being miserable during their sales pitch ask for better tequila and more nudity. Just have fun dammit! Sincerely, Gar Proud member of the red pill guild.
I wasn't planning on saying anything, but this thread has crossed the line. There is nothing wrong with a Vizio TV.
We are looking forward to our first visit to Temptations, and based on everything we've read, we will love it and probably want to return, but will politely decline any presentation on this first trip, not wanting to waste a moment of our vacation time. I understand they have a job to do. Upgrade presentations of some sort seem commonplace in the Caribbean. Value is a very subjective thing; what works for some, might not work for others. I would never presume to pass judgement on the choices of others. We are all there for the same reasons; to party like Rock Stars.
