I find it amazing that your warmest spot is north of our coldest spot and you stay there all winter!! No wonder you want to party hard when you get out. Your ass cheeks have been numb for 9 months!!!

Cuz when you win it, you fill it up with beer and drink from it. (take it to the closest Canadian Ballet venue, and let all the patrons and ballerinas drink from it)

"Here Rookie, have a drink from Stanley's Cup!" sounds kinda lame and could imply someone's athletic supporter (jock) if you have a Stan on the team.

And we do call it the Cup, but Americans have started calling it that, and we want to be different, and our trophy awarded to the top Canadian team is also a Cup.
In fact the trophy awarded to the best junior team (under 21 yr old amateurs) is also called a Cup. And the trophy awarded to the best collegiate Football team is also a Cup.
Our forefathers liked to call trophies Cups up here.

we also call the Stanley Cup....Hockey's Holy Grail.

But if you say Mug, everyone knows what championship you mean.

I am sure that is way more info than you ever wanted know ( but we have been deprived of real hockey since last week and I am getting fired up for tonite when real hockey returns)

    First Canadian Experience in Mexico

Got to tell a you a story. Several decades ago my young bride and I took our Honeymoon in Cozumel. We rented a moped (no helmets in those days! and every taxi out to mow you down!) and took a ride around the island. On the back side we went flat. Mexican farmer with shotgun came by in his truck and smiled at us but just kept going. Then a VW thing loaded with real live Canadians stopped, threw our moped in the back, loaded us up as well and served us Canadian Club and Coke on the ride back to town. Ever since then I buy drinks for Canadians whereever I find them.

I bet they said "Sorry about your flat"... not kidding but I got to admit we say sorry a bit too much... LOL... On the other hand I am not surprised they gave you a ride and fed you booze too, true Northern hospitality :)
