I understand your point. My surprise comes as a result of when I love something the way it is then I want it to either stay the same or get better (understanding 'better' is in the eye of the beholder). So with the resort losing some of the basic benefits I would rather focus on constructively pushing for the resort to keep them and not minimizing the deficiencies by saying they don't matter to me when clearly they do matter to others. I understand coming to the resorts defense more when people try to change the resort (camera policy, clothing optional, etc.). In those cases I 100% get it. There is a difference. And for the resort not monitoring CCC all I can say is they definitely monitored the Octoberbreast thread and were very familiar with our hope to host a toy exchange party in the cigar lounge when I reached out to do so. They knew things I didn't directly share with them I am so confident on the monitoring that I felt I had to leave certain items out of my trip report this year Something to think about.
I think that anybody that has gone to different resorts would have to agree that TTR has a variety of issues. Food is ok-ish. Rooms are hit and miss. They don't return emails. Stuff is in general disrepair. Rules are not consistent trip to trip. Lately the Entertainment staff has been getting poor reviews. And the list continues. So if you are coming to the resort to stay in a nice room, eat good food and be well entertained, you should give your head a shake. It's not that resort. The place is a party resort. If you are coming for the party, you'll enjoy it. If you're expecting the other stuff too, you'll be disappointed.
here's the Thing... I have Asthma, However... I find the Humid air of teh tropics actually solves and Eliminates it nearly completely. I mean If im downing like 6 cigars a day I may need to take some meds to become comfortable again. However, I have always found I have much greater breathing problems in the winter over the summer.... So im having a difficult time understanding the Humidity is life threatening thing.
I don't know..... lol Talk to a Newfounlander, They will Tell you that Humid cold is one of the worst kind of cold a person can experience. Been told things like "never warm, no matter what the cold seeps into your Bones, and Clothes is always wet and cold your never dry". lol
Agreed, I lived in Vancouver for a bit and one winter it went down to -15C, I was colder wearing my winter gear than I'd ever been in Alberta, even at -40C
What exactly do you mean "the resort losing some of the basic benefits" did I miss something? I see Bart/Annette are upset they had issues with the A/C and I think someone else mentioned that they had a problem but correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the resort sold out over New Years, and wasn't there many other CC members there at the same time? I don't see this thread being overwhelmed with other guests/CC members complaining about the A/C. So how much of a deficiency is it, and what are the others?
And humid hot is also a terrible experience. Feels like 105 in Vegas is much different than feels like 105 in Cancun.
I tend to agree! If we heard a bunch of bad reviews then I'd be concerned, but not so much if it's an outlier.
I think the A/C troubles are a serious issue for some, and hopefully they can get that fixed going forward...I get that. Since Jules and Amy left, there has been a supporting cast issue for JJ...I sort of get that, although the Ent staff shouldn't be that big a deal. Food has never been an issue at all for us. I think people are just cold...and it's making them cranky. People are overreacting and all of a sudden the sky is falling for some. That - I don't get. It's almost like reading "Trip Advisor" lately.
