I love that saying (although I know I butchered it here)...something like what does an asshole and an opinion have in common? Everyone has one so here is mine.

It never ceases to amaze me how quick some are to defend the resort. Look, I love TTR. But it is like the resort can do no wrong. What limited or no working Ac shows is a lack of investment by the ownership in basic upkeep of the resort. Through time everything needs some level of investment to maintain a certain standard. And having Ac or having good entertainment or having clean water and so on, are standards that at one point I expected from TTR (my opinion). It seems like through a lack of investment TTR has not been able to live up to the standards I, my wife and some others have come to expect. I figure we can either...
    1. lower those expectations and accept ttr for what it currently is
    2. Keep those standards, love ttr for what is still positive but push for ttr making investment to return it to what it was
    3. Keep those standards and try elsewhere until it improves.

We had a taste of Desire and have chosen 3. I understand why others would choose another option. TTR is still my first love and there are MANY reasons why it is a great vacation destination as many have pointed out in this thread. And people like to point out they don't need Ac or don't need entertainment but that isn't the point. My opinion is there is a pattern of lack of investment in facilities, staff and their guests enjoyment (what is next?) and sadly that will result in some, including us choosing other options until changes are made. I am sure ttr will continue to be great for many regardless. Nonetheless it will be interesting to see how this and the POTENTIAL large scale renovations play out.

    Just my 2 cents

If there was no AC I would have an issue. Not that I am a nudist, but I just hate the action of getting dressed. I have to wear a shirt and tie to work every day, and I turn the window unit on in my room and stand in front while dressing, even when it is freezing outside. I just like the cool air on me while I complete the least favorite part of the day (buttoning my shirt and tying a tie to go be a corporate sellout).

Temptation in Sept is hot, and I need that room ICY cold while getting dressed. If there was no AC I would hate putting on a nice shirt. I could live with it though, because I am normally feeling pretty good. I just think that I would get dressed as fast as possible, and then be hardly dressed at all at night. (No nice dinners for me)

I've found on my travels to Mexico when stuff like this happens, it's just better giving up after your first 2 initial efforts, and if you are still that miserable, go to the front desk, have them get you travel agent/booking company to switch to a property that does have A/C, it's not too hard to figure out and you save yourself alot of stress.....

I think you're exactly right...you've nailed it. I'm not defending TTR at all. I'm saying that they'll do what they're going to do (or not do very quickly) and that's how it is. Banging your head against the wall, pleading for them to address it, bitching at the desk attendants or letting it spoil a trip won't help. Take it or leave it, basically...which is what your post's message was. We agree totally. Where we differ is that we 've come to grips with how they do business...so that leaves your choices 1, 2 or 3...and TTR is ok with that. We choose choice 2. I agree...taking a week or more to fix A/C is unreasonable...it is ridiculous. The problem is that it's probably not going to get much better until the new building is up and running.

Another question would be how Premier members look at this issue...we aren't Premier members but if we were and the AC was not working you can bet they'd hear about it and expect it to be resolved!
