So we are booked, locked and loaded for our trip May 8-18th and it SERIOUSLY can not come fast enough! But what else does this mean......It's time to start getting back into shape because I only have 5 months to look sexy. Then I started to think....I swear that I only get my ass back into the gym when I know I am going to TTR. Then after our trip I basically just stop going.....until we book again. Is anyone else as guilty of this as I am?? I even told my hubby to slap the food out of my mouth if he see's me being excessive. lol
I was like that before my first trip. I was so self-conscious I worked out almost every day and kept an eye on my food. I lost a fair bit of weight but still felt bad! Then, I stepped into TTR and wondered what I was so worried about! Nobody gives a shit. Fat, thin, healthy, not, it doesn't make much of a difference. Being fun, friendly and there to party matters a lot more. Now I go through cycles of working out/dieting and being incredibly lazy/not caring what I eat. The time I'm spending being lazy/eating too much is getting gradually smaller though, so hopefully my body will follow suit soon.
I am the exact same way. Lose 10 lbs by May , then put it back on afterwards and then start losing again in January. I think I need to start going in the fall too to keep those lbs off.
Worked out everyday before last May's trip and haven't seen the inside of the gym since then, and man do my pants feel tight..LOL. Almost time to go back, here comes January
I pretty much work out 4-5 times a week on the regular, and normally eat pretty well all year. Meaning I don't eat fast food and crap like that, but I know I am guilty of eating my 20+ oz. rib eye, and then Elyse's left overs. Yes it's good quality self-prepared food, but I eat double the appropriate portions. Feels awesome when lifting heavy, but next thing you know the mid-section is defiantly getting thicker. After booking a trip, I try to lean out, but that is easier said than done. Especially if you try to do it in 4-6 week timeframe...when you really need 8-12 before you really start seeing definable results. Things have changed as of Tuesday. I made it Philly Wing Bowl 23! It is a competitive eating contest in Philadelphia at the stadium where the Flyers play. This year it sold out and will be a 20,000+ crowd. Now you would think this means I am going to start over-eating these next 6 weeks, but it is actually quite the opposite. You have to condition your body and speed up your metabolism. So my goal is to drop 20 pounds in the next 6 weeks, and be under 200 at the weigh in (218 now). The last two days I have doubled my cardio to 5+miles a day, and changed the way I lift. This should be an excellent jump start on getting ready for the May trip. Plus I hope I win and get 30K, or even win the local eater prize and get a Chrysler 300. Steve “The Animal Cannibal”
um... ladies ... we like your ass whatever size it Time for a little philosophy as I see it 1- Women look in the mirror and see only the flaws ( what they think are flaws) 2- Men look in the mirror and see only the features they can find that at all look like what they thought they looked like when they were 20 3- Women look at other women and think (I am better than she is) 4-Men look at women and only see the features they like (mostly) 5- For the most part... women who aren't afraid to eat ...tend to be great in bed (food is sensual) 6- Men who eat too much think they are great in bed (hearsay on that point ) 7- Notice I did not attempt to capture what women think when they look at men... mostly because we have no friggin idea That's what is so great about TTR ... we have a great bunch of screwed up people...who only care about having fun and trying to get along.... We don't tend to judge the container.... we try to judge the contents ...bottom line... women work out to loose 10 lbs to look better (probably mostly concerned about what other women think)... Men lose 10 lbs hoping they look better but really all they want to do is go home at their old weight....10 lbs heavier (philosophy off) back to my normal charming... irritating self
Take it with a grain of salt from someone who has been at the game for 25 plus years .. 1..eat what you want but don't be a pig about it and try and stay away from fast food ..where people get burnt out is the diet not the training ... 2..Cardio ,well you burn the most fat in the first 20 minutes so I do not see the point in doing anymore but I am BIAS I hate cardio:icon_mad:.... 3.. for guys and once again just my .02 bits .I have found training one body part per workout works the best for toning ..old school sorry never been big on full body training . 4..most people I train try an make it a job ....why I have no idea ,try an make it fun ,make it a game and there is half the battle ..
Lexi, I work out regularly, but like you I get more serious at least in terms of my diet 6-8 weeks before going. Knowing I will be walking around in virtually nothing is a strong motivator to lose those last 5 pesky pounds, that I would normally not worry about. Not saying that its like that for everyone, but I fall into a similar camp as you.
