We took that flight in september. Flew into miami the night before, got a room that shuttled to and from the airport, and into cancun at 748. Walked right through customs and everything. Walked outside to literally the first people, no cabs, no vans, nothing! It was actually kinda neat. We were at the sexy pool deck before 9am. Awesome start.... Id recommend it....
For our November trip we are flying from KC to Orlando the night before with Southwest on points and got a nonstop JetBlue flight from Orlando to Cancun that arrives in Cancun around 8:30-9:00am. Will be the earliest we have gotten there. The JetBlue flight was only 100 bucks a piece.
Well we ended up booking for Thursday afternoon flight with Frontier - no stops. It was cheaper than having a stop & I may go into work that morning so I won't burn a vacation day. How about flipping the coin now?! Flying home, US/American has flights with 4:33 departure. Will there be any issues with hanging around the resort longer than a normal checkout? Anyone have a preference in who they fly with? We like Frontier, but always have issues flying with US & American Airlines.
No issue staying late. They will cut your bands and give you a claim ticket (they collect it at departure), and when we did so (5pm flight) in april this year they let us use the spa locker room and shower before we headed out. We weren't members at that point but that did kind of sell us... And we left with a nice buzz, lol.... We are arriving friday night this coming april and have a relatively flight out Saturday, so we may do the above again this year
You guys are making me so jealous!! The only way I can land before noon is this Spirit air flight that includes THREE separate flights!! I deal, cause I can easily get the airport by 5AM for the flight, and I get to be half naked in a pool by 12:30. You'll see me - I'm the one walking in and falling into the pool at 12:30PM on Sunday Feb 15th.
Like the other St. Louis travelers, we always arrive in CUN at approx. 0900. Frontier has direct flights with Expedia, Funjet and Apple. It is so worth it to jump on a plane at 6 AM and be walking through customs at 9 AM. It is rarely too busy and you can be poolside with a drink by 1030. Sometimes, we even have a room.
I'm taking a direct flight from Boston in January that doesn't get in until 1:15, but just having the direct flight makes it so worth it.
