This is exactly what we do. The only shit show we had last year was Christa and I were both in isle seats, after paying extra for seat selection. I have used the same agency (and 2 agents) for the last 20+ trips. The thing we like about the agent, is we have someone to yell at should we need to, and when you deal with marlin travel or ama or whatever, their 1800 line from mexico is very easy to get through with. Now you do pay a premium for this, but 99% of the time, everything is lined up exactly the way it should be. Other things they consider. Sure I can save 800 bucks a ticket, If I fly from Edmonton, to Toronto, to Miami to Cancun...but who wants to take their flight from 5.5 hours to 18.5 hours...like duh..... Lots of people also like to do it them selves, and I have checked out the flight matrix, the same one that the agents use, sure you can see what they see, and the agents only make about a hundred bucks a ticket + their admin fee. So for us...for the most part...its worth the extra bucks. However....Vacations from West of Manitoba get hozzed badly. We looked at Desire pearl 7 days from Edmonton direct flight was 6600 bucks...I was like..not a chance in the universe. Even Temptations is looking like 3700-5220 depending on 7 or 9 days. Feb 16th. Sorry im rambling cause it chaps my ass that its so expensive compared to out of Montreal for example.
