Is there a cancellation charge on Alpharooms? Ive heard no, and Ive heard $65? Ive looked on the site and it says $64 (rounded up) to cancel, but why would some say it is no charge?
The site says prior to 7 days, and less than 7 days. I wonder why some have said no fee for cancelling? They cant charge my debit card. I have to call the bank and "open it" for an overseas transaction.
legal stuff from there site Deposits If your booking is more than 8 weeks away and the total cost of your accommodation is more than £100, you can pay a 20% deposit on that accommodation. This deposit is non-refundable. At certain times during the year we may offer you the opportunity to pay a lower deposit on your booking. We reserve the right to collect any outstanding deposit amounts automatically from the card used to pay the initial deposit 2 weeks before your date of travel. Balances The balance is due 8 weeks before you travel. If the balance is not paid by this date we will notify the Travel Provider and your booking will be cancelled. In the event of cancellation you will lose any monies you have paid. We reserve the right to collect the balance due automatically from the card used to pay the initial deposit 8 weeks before your date of travel. Cancellations Accommodation cancellation charges Booking cancelled more than 7 days before departure - £40 cancellation charge (or the value of the booking if lower). Booking cancelled 7 days or less before departure - 100% of the booking value. Non refundable rooms cancelled will incur a 100% charge. For the avoidance of doubt, any cancellation charges levied are wholly independent from the deposit arrangements on any given booking and in the event that you cancel your booking you must immediately pay any shortfall between payments made by you against that booking and the cancellation charge applied and in accepting these General Terms you give your authority for us to automatically charge the payment card used by you when securing the booking (or any other card used by you in connection with other bookings placed through Alpharooms) at that time. All cancellations requests must be made directly to Alpharooms in writing or by using 'My Account' online. Cancellations notified directly to Travel Providers will not be effective.
We put a deposit down for our New Years trip using alpha rooms, and canceled a few days later when the TTR dropped prices. Since this was 4 months before the trip I didn't expect the cancellation fee, however the next day I was charged 30 pounds, or 60 something dollars. I know some people love alpha rooms but I don't get it.
Hi everyone, Just to confirm, we do currently charge a £40 cancellation fee as standard when a booking is cancelled outside 7 days before travel. This is equivalent to roughly $65. If you cancel within the 7 days before you travel then you will incur a 100% cancellation charge. Some rooms on our site come with free cancellation - if this is the case you will see this detailed in the cancellation terms of the booking. I hope this helps. Best wishes, Jessica
A trick I have found is not to cancel but modify the reservation. I booked an 7 night cancun trip through alpha and ended up finding it cheaper via cheaptickets. So I just changed my reservation to a night in Vegas we were already planning on. The rates are really good even for US hotels.
