Thought about it ourselves for this trip. Saw a recent post that someone did the stop and they took them to a different Walmart that didn't have liquor. This was not the one that was close to the hotel. After seeing that we decided to skip the stop and bring some extra with us. Jeff sometimes gets sick of the hotel beer and will walk across the hotel parking lot and grab a 12 pack of beer if he gets to that point.
If you want liquor go to La Europea across from Walmart. I am trying to negotiate a delivery of Fireball for next week. But you can get on the bus and go......as far as payment, the best way is pesos. We usually pay everything in pesos

We've had friends that have paid for the stop and say it's close to the resort and they have an abundance of drinkable wine and liquor. I was confused myself. Maybe it was a disgruntled guest? After all, how many Walmarts can cancun have.
The way I see it. Since my wife for some reason only known to Angela decided to wear body paint for every theme night (not complaining) saves me a lot of weight in luggage. So as my local liquor store is running a sale on fireball, I'll make my weight on extra liquor. Problem solved!
