My biggest concern above all else with regards to 'finding an alternative' for our Cancun vacation is finding somewhere with a) Such an amazing group of people b) A resort that holds no judgement to gender, lifestyle, and especially sexuality (what with us being a married lesbian couple) and c) Having such awesome entertainment/theme nights/Boobs Cruise etc If we wanted an alternative in luxury 5* dining and accomodation, there are plenty of alternatives but i think we can all agree when i say we all go to TTR for the ambience, the people and the ultimate party...that's what everyone is/would be struggling to find if they were faced with having to find somewhere else to go when TTR does close it's doors for these renovations/rebuilds. We have decided on October 2015 for our next trip even though we consider ourselves 'June Junkies'...our work schedules won't permit it next year. For 2016, we're off to visit my family in the states so it won't affect our Holiday then thankfully. TTR is simply a one of a kind sorta place that, in my opinion has no 'alternative'. Just my 2 cents Sophie x
Heaven at Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya, Mexico - Adults Only Resort in Riviera Maya This would be the ultimate take over resort, it's a bit of a drive but well worth the wait. Temptation should consider modeling the new resort after HardRock Heaven Riviera Maya.
Quite liked the look of that until I clicked on "Ultimate Playtime".. Didn't quite get what I bargained for........ KIDS!!?? :icon_eek:
The last company I worked for had a sales incentive trip each fall...a different Caribbean destination each year. At these resorts and a couple that Jamie and I have been to on our own seem to all have one negative thing in common...well, two if you count all the screaming kids in the pool and bars at night. I'll strike up a conversation with people at one of these generic resorts and almost no one is looking to meet new people and hang out a little bit. At TTR this last May, we walked up to a couple on the beach (ok...it was our first day and we were trying to avoid the curse). We asked the couple if the chairs near them were taken. We became immediate friends and still talk with them on a weekly basis. That's typical of Temptation and not something you find as often elsewhere. The couple from the beach had never heard of CancunCare or Chinos...we encouraged them to show up at Paty'Os the next day and they were able to get on the cruise due to a hangover cancellation. Chinos will remember the couple with the "Canadian Drinking Team" hats, I'm sure. Temptation will always be the only Temptation.
I love all the resorts photos - seems gorgeous and spectacular. Much like the Temptation web-site photos but then you find out its in a bit of disrepair and needs some new furnishings & fixtures. The humidity, incessant rain, and never ending sun beats down the buildings like no other. A little Photoshop and your three-star resort looks like a five-star. $385/nt for the cheapest room on their website using the 35% off code. For that price D-RM wins out easily. The best feature of the Hard Rock would be there Club Heaven which opens at 11pm and I'm sure is an indoor air conditioned Disco. Something Temptation badly needs. If they would combine the sports-bar + Nice Shoes it would be big enough to accommodate the huge crowd that is forced to party outside in the sweltering heat. I'm so glad we have local places where we can let loose.
Michelle and I booked 5 nights at the HardRock and 5 nights at TTR for May 21-31. She's so excited, then we also have Dec of this year to get under our belt.
