Gogo, I love your go get 'em attitude, but I think we saw from the GOV fiasco that it takes a lot more than being topless at the pool or having women in skimpy dresses at night to make a TTR atmosphere. I've been to other AO/AI resorts with topless women, but they basically laid there reading and covered up to walk around. No body shots, no beer pong rafts, no mingling, even--and it was all the entertainment people could do to get anyone to get up and do pool aerobics. So just having the girls free doesn't guarantee a party. And a lot of us love dressing up at TTR because we don't have to be conversation starters--we feel more comfortable being out of our comfort zone but still being able to blend in a bit. At TTR, whenever a group shows up in theme wear, it seems like others usually join in. But at GOV, I remember so many reports of women chickening out or changing because that wasn't happening. So, it takes more than sexy dresses to get the party rolling, too. I think all the fun stuff is accepted at TTR because enough people over a long enough period of time made it the norm there. The management seems to be unsure sometimes if they want that or not, so this whole re-vamp scares me. Perhaps if enough of us can organize to travel simultaneously to another resort--and then keep the groups coming--that resort would eventually become TTR-like. But, I think it would take a LONG time.
We've been researching Hedo in Negril. Anyone been there who can make a comparison to the atmosphere at TTR? From online, it seems like if you aren't part of one of the swinger groups you might be kind of left out?
Marshe - As of the end of this Sept. its already up two of the four floors that are going to be there - a fair way from finished, but on schedule to open on or around Oct '15
IMHO, if you wanted to transplant the TTR feeling the only way would be to book a large group trip of TTR alumni for the same week - otherwise the regular Hedo faithfuls will set the tone. It can be wild and fun but depending on the group there any single week can be too over the top for many, also the average age demographic for Hedo is significantly older than for TTR, if that matters to anyone. btw- if you think TTRs facilities are old, you haven't experienced Hedo, unless you can pony up the extra $$ to get one of the few newly renovated rooms.
Always luv your perspectives Summerbum.....but I would add we could acquire a struggling resort and make it our own CCC Eden. Call it......oh I don't know...just spitballin here. How about Hotties and Hellraiser Hacienda LOL
Search Hedo on CCC.....many of us have expressed ourviews about Hedo. And yes it is very cliquish. One of the groups bought out Hedo.
