Well said, Andre. If we have to take a year off because of construction, while it may stink, so be it. As long as they don't change the concept or alienate the clientele or staff, it will all work out in the end. We can make the party happen no matter the layout of the hotel.
With the huge big screen tv over the indoor pool? lol I think I know which house you are referring to. Looks amazing. There are some serious mansions at the beach in NC that are similar and we found some in the virgin islands too. If you can get people to agree on a time and place and you have a leader to take the risk and throw out the money then you can definitely recapture that TTR vibe. A lot of work though.
I have just had a Thomas cook (uk) holiday advisor from head office in Peterborough telephone the hotel manager direct. The hotel confirmed to the advisor that TTR will close for about 10 months for major re structuring. He went on to say that no dates for closure have been decided and the end of may 2015 was a preliminary date. He also advised her to keep taking bookings (Thomas Cook are selling this holiday up until October 2015) as everyone would be entitled to a full refund should TTR be unable to offer a reasonable alternative in Cancun :icon_exclaim: . However. The Thomas Cook advisor told me that a full refund from TC would be unlikely if we refused alternative accommodation. Imagine if you booked TTR and then got moved to a riu or similar :angrymad:. I explained to her that TTR was quite unique (she agreed with this :wink3: ) and that no other hotel in the area compares. She advised me to hold off booking anything for TTR after may 2015. She also said that she would get her managers to look into this further and would get back to me in a day or two. Luckily for us we are going for the last 2 weeks in may. (I wonder if they will let us take a souvenir/memento). Anyway .... I hope this info helps anyone looking to book after May 2015. Take care fellow cancuncarers and we will see all you mayhemers in 7 months. Leeroy and Sarah xx.
Yes indeed!!! And the best one happens in September with the Wishes, Wonders, and Who Dats! An awesome group (many who are CCC and TTR peeps) who know how to party! Even better, this is a party with a purpose! I'm really glad we've already booked TTR for April, but maybe some of you who will be needing that TTR fix will join us in September...you won't regret it for a second!
No matter where you go in the world, the common truth is that rich people aren't stupid. It's safe to say that what ever the De la Pena family is planning and doing has a base in market conditions and that they believe they can rent out the additional rooms and they aren't scared of closing it for 10 months and demolishing and rebuilding. The only real question is what is this new image they are talking about and is the hotel getting turned into yet another bland vanilla run of the mill fancy resort or do we still get to party naked?
And party we did like we were at TTR....Cant wait until this years mini Reunion - thanks to the friends we have meet at TTR and CCC. XOXO
Unik is a unopened hotel on Isla that the family owns. It was built and never opened. Rumour 8 months ago was that it was now gonna open by 2015 as a couples only.
