Just wondering what everyone does. While we would love to just turn them off, we will have to connect with the kids at home. Should we just buy wifi? Call Verizon? we have iPhones so we can Facetime and iMessage on wifi. Just wondering what others have done. Thanks in advance we can't wait till Friday!!!!
call Verizon and change your plan to the More Everything Plan and add Mexico/Canada to it..You can talk all you want and texts are 50 cents to send and 5 cents to receive..and 4 gb of shared data for 2 phones..We do it everytime we go to Mexico and it works great..We call and change our plan the day before we leave and change it back when we return..ends up adding about maybe $10 to our bill for the month
You can get a Telcel sim for down there. The amigo prepaid plans are cheap. Service is good all over the resort with the sim too. I've used that for data a number of times and it's nice.
I tried to check my fb last time... realized it was all in Spanish... I took that as a sign to get back to the sexy pool
We have AT+T. Can't remember exactly what we did last time (April) but I know I turned my cellular data and cell service off. So my phone, while in Mexico, could not make/receive calls or texts or go online. Basically it was a camera only at that point. For my husband, I think we signed him up for international roaming for calls + texts. He also got an international data plan for the internet, but I can't recall how much it cost. In any event, it was much cheaper than not doing anything. Leaving your existing data + call services will probably run you up into the $$$ while in Mexico. Good luck!
The fact that the phone didn't ring was one of the best parts. I left the phone plan on, but shut off texting. Paid the $70 for Internet access on my laptop (to check the nannycam, I leave a 20 year old at home) and checked it once a day and that was more than enough.
OMG can you imagine if you saw something on the Nannycam that worried you + you had to head back? :icon_cry:
