GOV was sold to the Dreams chain Ajay and is now a family resort, no longer owned by Oasis.

It changed hands in April which means that discussions were probably ongoing in Jan and therefore they pretty much gave up before they started. Oasis moved their sexy adults only concept to the Oasis Sens, but they burned so many bridges with the GOV fiasco I'm not sure it will take off.

I agree with Dave, and other comments about the beach lacking or hotel rooms needing updating. But for about 200 a night, it is hard to compare what it would cost for a similar experience anywhere for the price. I have spent the equivalent for 3 days in vegas as what it costs a week at TTR, and had more fun at TTR in many ways... In fact I just cancelled a trip to Vegas to book week 8 again :)

Entrance to a topless pool in Vegas $50-$100 for a guy not to mention drinks. You can't beat the price at Temptation.

In May, Jamie and I paid $1200 each for 12 days...and this included airfare from Minneapolis. I've never understood how people can say the prices are getting more expensive. My first trip was in 2007 when it was Blue Bay Getaway...and I've paid about the same prices each trip. For what we value, Temptation has everything we look for. Since whatever develops in the coming months with the renovation and temporary closure is out of our control, we'll just plan our trip accordingly. If nothing else...our 1st week of May group of friends will have some fun...hopefully at the still-open-for-business Temptation.

I went out and bought the print version of the newspaper. As I suspected the print version of the story is more extensive and contains some extra paragraphs (highlighted) that don't appear in the online version. These include some quotes attributed to Diego de la Pena the hotel owner.

Some cherry picked translations, much of the extra paragraphs are the background history of Diego de la Pena, but here are the ones of note.

"Renovation is the key to remain up to date" pointed out the hotel enterprenuer.

"Demolition is required and when rebuilt we will have a new image and new prices"

"I have the promise of the Muncipal Govt for 70 rooms going to 170 with the hotel having all new installations" the hotel entrepreneur confirmed.

My note: the number of new rooms seems all over the place with several different figures that don't add up.

That was me.....and i was speaking purely in relation to the accomadations (specifically the rooms)......i think Temptation as a whole is well worth the price, otherwise i wouldnt keep returning. I said that in relation to why i dont think the prices will necessarily go up with the reopening due to the fact that the room quality will probably be on par with resorts of the same price......i dont think they will fill the resort with 800 couples looking to party like all of us, but 400 party couples and 400 not so party couples but ones that appreciate nice accomodations seems feasible.............just brainstorming and havin fun here...not complaining about the value of Temptation

That's what I was gonna say!
Granted, the rooms at TTR aren't great but again, not a 5 star. We live in a small city, nothing fancy or huge, and for that price the two of us could get a hotel and maybe dinner?

For well liquor all day, multiple meals and sexy pool action, it's well worth it to us.
