While I'm just speculating, I would think there will still be enough interest for the cruises. Sucks for you now though, the not knowing, hope it works out.
If this turns out to be what actually happens, purchasing a Premiere membership right now could be a very good investment as I suspect the hotel rates will rise commensurately with the new facilities. So being locked in at the old rates would be a good thing. We are going on a referral week for Halloween and are seriously contemplating becoming Premiere members if we can come to mutually agreeable terms. Now this gives us something new to consider.
We're with you Bart! I'll believe it when I see it. The adult frat party concept is not a very popular one, other resorts do not compete in this space because its a very limited market. GOV closed Sens is yet to take off And Temptation is rarely sold out - maybe 6-8 weeks a year. So what do they do with 800 rooms on the worst section of beach and far from the Hotel Zone Downtown club area? Cant turn it "upscale" as the beach does not warrant a significant price increase. All the staff will leave to find other jobs, so who comes back? If closed for 6-9-12 months does the customer base go to Sens and never come back? This is a huge gamble on their part when we all know Temptation prints money for the de la Pena family.
I just wish they would be forthcoming with a specific closing date! I've got a party to plan somewhere!
From the time you get back home, you start to dream about the next trip, you build it up to your friends and family, and even get a couple of them to say "we want to go with you next year." You start a monthly countdown and realize that it's no longer that far away and then you open up this thread. FML. [ame=""] PUNCH THE MOOSE!!!!
I say this in all seriousness.... Steve put together a consortium of backers from the 'our kind' world of CCC
I think the biggest thing in my mind to consider are the staff who will be out of work during the rebuild. Hopefully as many as possible come back when the hotel reopens. Except for that one late night manager (Kojak) he always had me feeling nervous (not really serious)
What would be the likelihood they change over one of the 2 Desire resorts to accommodate/divert the "homeless" Temptation folks during the remodel?
Again it's a "what I heard" scenario and I don't know if it will come to fruition. But I heard many staff will be kept on and paid a large part of their wage, of course many rely on tips to supplement their meagre wages so it may be a moot point.
