Happen to us. We bring only 2 sunscreen aerosol for a weeks. So Now I'm bringing more I don't see where I can oay 280 pesos for this ( around 25 $ ). In a store in downtown cancun ! ( Near Margaritaville.) So I prefer to bring my own. Make sure to take the waterproof tho. :)

We always bring two just in case as price is way high once you get there. Also don't forget that at the resort they will tell you the best sunscreen to get is 30 spf as higher ones can cause a rash in the Cancun heat. We've not tried a higher SPF due to this, as I just took them at their word.

I didn't realize it was a weight issue I thought it was volume so we get the 3 oz travel containers at the Dollar Store and fill up as many as we care to bring with our favorite protection!
Also, we try to hit the tan beds a few times before our trip and always bring the Cowboy hats! No fun getting burned up!

It's about 20$ at Walmart too. Bring some about two or three bottles for one week.

True. I watched a programme where they tested 30 spf and 50. The 30 gave something like 92% protection whereas the 50 gave something like 96%. Hardly any difference but big difference in price.

On the boob cruise (and others), before you get on the boat, there are vendors trying to hock the "reef friendly" sunscreen. The stuff is expensive, and I've always thought it was a scam.

So what is the story? Can we use regular sunscreen and still go snorkeling?

I've always guessed that the film of greasy scum you see on surface of the sexy pool near the end of the day is mostly sunscreen residue. It looks disgusting and I'm guessing it's not good for fish either. However I've never heard of that rule for people going in the water on the cruise. It's the open ocean and that has a lot more water than the sexy pool. I can understand them enforcing it for places like Xel-Ha and Xcaret because they are mostly enclosed rivers and the build up would be much greater. I think you'll be ok.

There is no restrictions (coming from the U.S.) on liquids in your checked baggage. I bring 6 to 8 full sized bottles of spray sunscreen in my checked bag.
