... TTR got sold and turned into a theme hotel like Planet Hollywood?

I've heard that a group is preparing a bid for the resort and they are looking to keep the adult only part but just change the theme and do a theme other than the "sexy vib" that is TTR. Don't know what theme is being considered though.

I don't know the appetite of the De la Pena's to sell but the group is preparing a presentation to be presented in the beginning of November.

Nothing may ever become of this and even if the De la Pena's hear the presentation they may end up rejecting it but it got me wondering what would "I" do if that happen....

I mean Desire is not an option for us so would I seek another resort or hope that the new version is still fun and the same people keep going? Would we all move in mass to another resort if the new one became a bore?

All things change and someday... maybe next year, maybe in 15 years this could and probably will happen with the way hotel change hands in Cancun... someday the offer is going to get too good to pass up...

I'm not looking to start s shit storm on the resort not to change, just asking the question, if it does, what would you do?

Good question!! In my travels I have yet to find a resort with the same vibe as TTR!! If they do change then I would try to get a group of friends from TTR and see if we can look for another resort that MIGHT have the same vibe as TTR!! I know...Big Up Hill Battle!! LOL ! Here's to hoping!! :ernaehrung015:

I have to ask and I understand that every resort isn't for everyone but I am curious why in your case pearl is not for you? We realized we had several misconceptions after our first visit, learning that nakedness truly was optional and you were not judged for wearing a suit and there are no expectations or pressure to 'play' ha. So just curious.

It's been for sale for many years as far as I know. Everything is for sale and everything has a price - no one has met it yet. I haven't heard that particular rumour myself. If I don't know the source then it is just that - a rumour, of which 99/100 turn out to be false.

My opinion is if any company thinks they can buy one of the oldest resorts in Cancun, in one of the least desirable locations and remove the only thing that it is popular for, and make a success of it then that would be a very brave acquisition.

I know it wasn't addressed at me, but Pearl isn't for us either. Reasons as follows:

    - two to three times the price
    - much more pretentious
    - more cliquey
    - a quarter of the people
    - a quarter of the fun
    - less diverse
    - average age quite a bit older
    - in the middle of nowhere
    - nakedness not a plus point, rather the opposite

To turn it around - what makes it "for you", over Temptation?
Possibly a new thread might be in order since it's taking the original post off at a tangent.

Steve you hit it on the head. Same reasons we have not gone there.

Temptation isn't the Vibe,, the Vibe comes from all the great people on Cancun Care, and Temptation's just allows it to happen.

I think the theme would eventually stay the same if the same folks keep going back.

To answer the original question, we would probably just go to other 'less fun' adults only resorts in Mexico or other countries. Vacations would be much more relaxing lol

We will go to Desire someday, I'm sure, but the price point will keep us from going on a regular basis. Plus we are not fancy people, I feel we would overwhelmed at a place like that. I'm a simple county girl who just wants to party like there is no tomorrow :)

    Correct assessment.

Anyone willing to buy Temptation at a high price point would be INSANE to change the vibe.

They are located in an undesirable location, facilities are mediocre. Etc. There are many hotels that would be way better to use in Cancun for the same price.

Temptation's vibe is the only thing that keeps it popular. It requires the adult oriented entertainment , sexy pool, etc. They would go out of business without this aspect.

We frequently walk the beach both ways perhaps an hour or so. A lot of the other resorts we pass seem almost deserted. I think as Steve said, least desirable location. The sexy vibe appears to be the factor that fills TTR. Were I to buy the one resort that seemed to be thriving (TTR), away from the heart of the resort strip, I would be buying it for the goodwill of the repeat customers, so I sure wouldn't change the theme. Still, companies try to mess with their success all the time, so who knows. And conceivably, new ownership might make a few positive changes. We've all thought TTR could do a few things a little better.
